BOA's web page shows the debit as a "BILL PYMT BY CHECKFREE" transaction. When I drill down for more detail, I see the transaction type described as an "ATM Cash Advance or Bank Transaction".
That description is a bit worrying, suggesting as it does that BOA might treat this as a cash advance with no grace period. I'll know more after the statement cuts at the end of next week.
Well, I've seen the BOA Visa statement, & I can confirm that Bill Pay payments that use a BOA CC as a funding source are billed as purchases, not as cash advances.
i got a question here ! is there a way to subscribe to this service without having a boa checking or savings account ?
i couldnt figure out how to do it !
I believe that BillPay is only available to checking account customers, as this is traditionally a service of checking services.
I don't think I have ever seen a BillPay service strictly for CC accounts. This would seem to fall under BT or cash advance normally.
This is why this thread has expressed such surprise. First surprise was that a CC could be used as a BillPay source, and secondly that it would be considered a purchase with grace period rather than a BT or cash and normal fees.
Thanks txjohn !
that makes sense to me now...i wonder if the extra "grace period" is worth opening a checking account with boa! But an extra hard inq for that sux though!

I already had a CC with BofA and last fall I took them up on one of their promo's and opened a checking account. There was no hard INQ.
+1 cwcid
I don't think BoA does hard pulls on opening checking/savings. I think they do Telecheck or Chexsystems, maybe a soft.
The hards seem to be mostly CU's and CU like banks. Or at least that is how my experience has shown.

When you already had accounts with them?

BOA also holds our mortgage, but accessing this online requires a separate login; the mortgage apparently isn't linked to the checking or CC accounts.
I have a refinanced Mortage through Bank of America and when I log into Online Banking, I see my checking account, WorldPoints Visa account (formerly secured card prior to 02/09), AND my mortgage. I am also in NJ so it could be dependant on your state.
You may want to give Online Banking so you can use one logon.
