It's been awhile since I've posted and wanted to gather some opinions. Here is my current situation:
BoA cash back rewards CC $3600 CL and $39 AF - had the account around 3 years now.
The reason it has an AF is because it started as a secured card, and eventually it unsecured and I converted it to the cash rewards card.
The dilema.
i have a prequalified offer for the same card with $0 AF and $200 back after spending $500.
Early last year I added Chase freedom, and barclay cards. Those are my newest accounts, and my AAOA is about 4 years.
does BoA even let you have 2 of the same cards? Anyways just wanted some thoughts since my AF is coming up in may
Have you asked if they can PC it to a $0 AF version?
Yeah I asked earlier via online chat and they said no, not sure how accurate that is though. When I originally called and had the card unsecured and converted I asked him about the AF and he said it would stick because the original account had the $39 AF and no matter what card I converted to it would persist
Hmm. Well after doing some searching and reading, it looks like some have been successful in getting the AF removed by calling the backdoor number. Some people were still told no, some were successful after speaking to a supervisor, and some were successful after a few repeated attempts. Were I in your position, I would definitely push for having the AF removed from your current card rather than trying to app for a new one.
UPDATE:
I called on thursday and spoke to a BoA rep and he said I was eligible to have my AF removed
