So I guess my question is does BOA do PCs? Any requirements? I've had Platinum MC with them since they acquired MBNA and want to switch to the Bank Americard cash rewards. Do I just call the normal customer service or a backdoor number? Also, my current APR is 9.15% would this change ? Thanks!
Yes, Bank of America will do a product conversion. I recently asked them to change my World MasterCard that I had been carrying since 2008 to the Cash Rewards card. It was easy to do and they shipped the new cards. Ask for one with an EMV chip if you want that.
Your interest rate should not change, but make sure nonetheless.

Yes, BoA do PCs. I requested for one earlier this month from a BoA WorldPoints Visa to the Bank Americard CR. Call the backdoor number for credit analyst (existing customers) located in the sticky. They did it with no problem. You can also ask for a CLI at the same time if you are planning on doing so. It is a HP, but YMMV. It will take 2 to 4 weeks to fully convert. I requested mine 2/01 and it just switched over last week when I checked through online banking. Still haven't received the card...will have to wait another week or so. CSR told me it was just mailed yesterday ![]()
To PC your BOA CC is very very easy, just call the number on the back of your card. The customer service rep will complete the upgrade request with no problems!!! The process takes about 4 weeks for your new cards to arrive. Be aware that BOA does a soft pull and your account number will change.
To clarify, the HP is in regards to the CLI. I also found it much easier to access a live person a lot faster through the backdoor number...virtually no waiting, whereas the number on the back of your card takes you to the automated system and longer wait time...20+ mins in some cases, especially if you get the "we are experiencing an unusual volume of calls..." message. I found out the hard way after waiting 25 mins!
Very true, but BOA has changed the hours of operation for the credit department. They are only open Monday through Friday 8 AM to 10 PM.
+1 to what the other posters said. You can do a PC over the phone, but it can take them awhile to actually complete everything. I think I waited about a month for mine to finish.
