BoA Pre-Approval site question

I've tried the BoA pre-approval site in the past and it has never offered me anything, which I thought was odd, but my credit isn't great. Just yesterday I was reading that if I wasn't "opted in" the pre-approval wouldn't work, is this true? After thinking about it, I know I have never seen a single soft or hard pull on any of my reports from BoA, so it made me wonder.

Re: BoA Pre-Approval site question

I think you can be opted out for pre approvals and still get soft inquiries.  You just won't receive any offers in the mail.  If BOA never soft pulled your credit, you won't get any results on its pre approval webpage.

Re: BoA Pre-Approval site question

Thanks, BoA was included in my BK 3 years ago so that may be why they don't offer me anything or why they haven't done a soft pull on my report.

Re: BoA Pre-Approval site question

Most soft pull pre-app sites will not yield results if you are opt'ed out. You also will not get any pre-app offers. Your account is blocked off PRM soft INQ's. AM/AR soft INQ's are still allowed. If you had an open account with BofA you might get results on the pre-app screen even if opt'ed out. In your case you could be backlisted and that might be the end of the matter right there.

I may be blacklisted, I will try opting back in and give it another shot next week Smiley Happy

Re: BoA Pre-Approval site question

The BofA pre-approval site shows if you have any standing offers.  It does not generate a soft pull.  Once pre-approved, if you apply, you will get a hard pull.

(There's another recent posting on this which may show up on a search??

DH's experience bears this out.  He was not softed when he checked out the pre-approval.  When he app'd, he had a hard pull on EQ.  They have since softed him on EXP and TU.

I have checked out the pre-approval site several times and have never been softed.  (Never gotten a pre-approval, either.  Maybe next year.......)

Re: BoA Pre-Approval site question

Unfortunately I'm not about to test it right now to see if I am softed if I try it. It wouldn't be a good test anyway since they already soft me regularly as a customer.
