BoA Question about splitting 1 card into 2

Hey all!

I was just wondering if anyone has experience splitting off part of a credit limit to make a new account with Bank of America? I'd like to know if one still qualifies for a new card bonus when doing this?

For example, I have a 3K card right now, but there's a good chance I can get that up to around 10K soon, and if so I'd like to split that in half and get an Alaska Airlines card and have both lines @ 5K. Would I get the bonus points doing this?

I'll ask them directly myself when going for a CLI after while, but it's only 2 months since I went from $500 to $3000, so I'm not quite ready to push my luck yet.

Anyone have experience with this & BoA?

Im not sure if BOA does this but generally lenders allow it once you apply for a card and it gets denied. Then you call a recon line and mention to them, if its possible to split a line for a new tradeline.

Since it would be considered a new TL yes you should get the bonus points.

BK7 - 2/21
Cap1 QS - 2k (4/21) - Closed
Mission Lane - 4k (11/21) - Closed
Venmo - 900 (11/21) - Closed
SavorOne - 2700 (12/21)
VentureOne - 2000 (7/22) - Closed
CareCredit - 12000 (6/23)
Sam's Club - 2500 (7/23)
Venture - 5500 (8/24)
HELOC - 33000 (7/23)

I tried this once a few years back but never ended up taking the new CL. It was an option.

Thanks for the input! It sounds like it'll at least be worth a try.
