Between the clunky name, lack of promotion, and the (possibly, unverified anecdotal) low approval rate, it seems like BOA is going to replace it.
I love mine, but it does feel like it needs a little TLC given the AF.
I doubt they going to get rid of the Premium card. The premium card has no foreign fees, it also better Travel insurance protection and purchase returns protection vs the new plain BofA unlimited cash card. Plus if you travel at least once a year thru air, you can make up for the annual fee with $100 credit for travel reimbursements. I already used up my 100 so essentially I made $5 off the card
I'm with @Trikoret on this ... I have both CCR and PR cards ... I can't see a need for a 2.62% card for me and I LOVE my PR card.
The CCR is used for online purchases (which is a LOT of things ... I use it for a monthly major donor contribution which adds up to $1200 per quarter) and with rewards = 5.25%. I also use it at Costco which = 3.5%. I kept maxing out at $2500 per quarter on just those two so had hubby get one as well and we maximize between us.
PR is great for travel (3.5%) plus the $100 credit and no FTF. For the rest of my spend it's 2.62% with no limits.
These two are my primary cards - I'll supplement with Sears when they have insane offers like 15x TYP or 10% statement credits, Citi CC for a specific spend category. I also use Venmo to get the 3% on Entertainment (most of my wineries we visit code that way), and of course AX Preferred for Grocery and streaming at 6%.
I don't know what I will use my Citi DC for any longer - but I have that as well for 2%.
I keep AX Platinum, Bonvoy, and Hilton for travel needs - they all pay for themselves but it takes some work. Also use AX Amazon fir that 5%.
It ain't easy saving money this is all a bit of a game to see how much I can get back in the end. As I remind hubby who complains when he has to ask what card to use for what this month ... several thousand $ at the end of the year is worth it
Very good analysis. Outisde of those on this website, a lot of people with credit cards are really not into the game. Maybe the flat 1.5% is just easier and is along the lines of what the CFU offers. While I think the Custom Cash Rewards is so much better, I am sure that this will have some appeal.
