I got the BofA Cash Rewards CC back in early December 2011 with a $1500 CL. I want to use it more, so was thinking about asking for a CLI. How long should I wait before requesting an increase?
anyone have an answer to this thread because i was wondering the same thing
At least 6 months. Don't expect much though, BoA has gotten "iffy" with all accounts lately. I have a BoA with a 500CL since 2008, have never been given an increase, will probably close it this spring. To their credit, they've also never shown a HP for the CLI request. Anymore, I'm simply going to avoid the BoA constrictor

I agree. Better plead your case to the backdoor number so you could rationalize the need for the increase --- like what I just did. They are very conservative with CLI. argh!
i dont know why i applied for bofa in the first place.
they game me a lousy limit and then said i wasnt eligible for the 100 bonus cashback
@cutemarty
what did you tell bofa to get your cli
Please understand that YMMV however after 3 months of having a BofA cash rewards Visa, I called the backdoor number and explained my reasoning for a CLI to 5000. I started with 1000. I was approved with a soft pull.
3 months later, the holidays are approaching and I PIF and treat the account well. I call them again and request an increase to 7000. They approved it.
Not sure if this is typical but my credit profile is perfect never any baddies, good credit mix, but short history with a bunch of inquiries. I had leverage and was able to answer all their questions. I also had 3 years of total history with Boa on a mortgage account. I referenced that account and its good standing to help me. Again YMMV however I was very happy with BofA as I felt they were more than willing to help approve my requests. I did not request online always called the backdoor number. They said it would be a HP however it was always a SP.

I waited 7 months and requested a CLI online. It was an instant approval and just a soft pull, went from 1000 to $2500.

Told them I was going to Europe and having a 14% APR --- this card is my best one.
