BofA Recon: How long is too long to wait?

On 3/29 I requested a CLI on my 4 year old BofA card that has a limit of $800 and an AF and was declined.  (It started as a secured card in 08, then was CLI'd and unsecured on it's anniversary - since then it's been sitting at the same limit.)  The reason given in the letter that I received last week was "Serious delinquency/collection filed and number of accounts with delinquency."

The reasons are valid since I do have several baddies on my CR that are all 5+ years old, however I've had this card for 4 years with only one CLI, no lates, no PC requests/offers (they didn't offer when it was unsecured like I'm seeing now) and no AF reduction/removal.

Since it was a HP I want to recon to try for the CLI and see about a PC to something without an AF, but I don't know if I should do this now or wait for my new Chase SW card with a $3000 limit to report to try and show them what others are offering.  Even my HSBC card has a higher limit than my BofA and No AF, and it's 18 months younger...

Any input?  Thanks!

Well, from 3/29 to now is not very long so you could recon.  Normally within a 30 day window should be okay.  Now, the down side is I would no hold high hopes for BoA and the result of the recon.

I figured something along those lines. If I wait until the tail end of the 30 day window (4/29) then my Chase might have reported - but I doubt it since my first payment isn't even due until 5/17... I guess there's a slim chance it would report before the first statement, but I probably shouldn't hold my breath lol

Did you get a SP or a HP on the CLI request?  Nothing new is going to show up unless they pull again and you don't really want a couple of HPs on your report.

It was a HP, I guess I had thought that during a recon they might repull as a SP - but I guess that's not generally the case.  As for another HP, I'm not really that concerned with it since I have a few on various reports from 3/29 to 4/2 when I was working on replacing the cards that are on the chopping block.

Thanks for all the input Jayson Smiley Happy  I should mention that I'm not optimistic about a recon either, but I figure I may as well try because if the card doesn't grow (or at least lose the AF) between now and next Feb, it's probably going out the door.

Re: BofA Recon: How long is too long to wait?

Well, I gave it a whirl and it was a no go... I was also informed that if a card has an AF and you get a PC, the AF remains, even though newly approved cards for whatever you may be PCing to have no AF...

I told the lovely gentleman on the line that I was sad to hear that because I just can't see myself continuing to pay an AF on a non-reward card that isn't growing with me when I was just approved for two non AF cards, one of which has a $3000 limit and rewards.

He ended up refunding my AF as a "one time courtesy" which I thanked him for, so I guess I'll keep it around until they stop "one time courtesy(ing)" me and I'll hope that it grows enough to make it worth while in the mean time.  I don't want to close it because it's one of my two oldest CCs, but I don't want to keep paying the AF for it when other creditors are willing to grant me larger CLs with rewards and no AF.
