Hi @BuildingBetterCredit2020 if it makes you feel any comfortable, I got my BOA Secured card about 14 years ago. That became unsecure after 9 months. Since then I tried several times to do a Product Change and it was never a go. So I have decided to keep the card. Worst of all it has $29 AF.
I attempted an outside-the-box approach. Made an appointment to talk to someone in a BofA branch about this. The day before the appointment, the banker I was scheduled to meet with called to ask what I wanted to discuss. I explained my situation and my goal. She said that in her 5 years of experience, she had never seen a credit card changed to a different product. ...
I should have just given up there, but I told her that product changes are definitely a thing that happens often in the industry. She paused and asked if I work in a bank. LOL!
At that point I gave up and canceled the appointment. All she was going to do was have me call the number on the back of my card while sitting in the branch. So much for my attempt to go outside the box!

I commend your continued efforts in doing a BofA PC. I got my CLI's, gave up on the PC and decided my energy was best spent elsewhere. I always watch these kind of threads to see if someone was successful. Agreed, you would likely have been given a number to call. Good idea though.
I really think that some cards just get put into a certain bucket and never allowed to change. I have a Cash Rewards with a $59 annual fee that became a BOA Card after the original bank it was from was acquired. I recall being able to change from platinum plus to cash rewards then never again a few years ago. The annual fee has always been there.
I was basically told if I wanted a different card I can only get it by applying for it.
I can speak from my own experience in saying they probably won't give u a cli until your profile is clean. Like squeaky. I was approved for the cash rewards with a 2k SL a year and a half ago. Scores were just about 700. I have student loan lates on my report from 6+ years ago. They will not give me an increase AT ALL. Not 1 dollar. They keep Citing serious delinquency as the reason.
BOA is picky about product changes. We have a cruise line card with a high AF we asked to product change to the SAME cruise lines card with no AF ( card is available and advertised on website) and were told no.
I would give it a nother try as things improve
My apologies to folks here who've relatively recently replied to this post as I have been "gardening" and have not checked for a while.I have an update - I requesteda CLI over the phone in early-mid Feb and was again denied. However, the love button was still active when I logged into my account onlione. So I clicked on the button about a week later on 2/20/21. Voila! They gave me a $2500 CLI. Makes no sense to me! So I'm back in the garden again. Honestly, I really don't get BoA. With this kind of nonsense compared to the other big banks around, it doesn't make them a very attractive option whatsover. As a DP, I got another card(no AF unlike BoA) in the interim with my local credit union with a $10K SL. I'd honestly consider dumping BoA down the road if I can't get a PC.
