BofA Regular AMEX conversion to Accelerated Cash Rewards AMEX...

I called BofA today for a balance transfer question and as I was gonna hang up I asked analyst if I can do product change from the regular amex that I have with the new Cash Rewards Accelerated one that I said I see on their website.. She put me on hold and came back saying yes I can, I specifically asked which one she was referring to as I'm thinking she might think of the previous Accelerated Rewards (Black color) so she had to put me on hold again to check, she came back saying "the silver" one is what were gonna change into, I agreed.. She read a disclosure and said I'll receive the new card within 2 weeks.. I would say that went easy.. I did try once before but half day of calling diff. numbers only to get denied in the end gets you tired too...

Had the same problem when I tried to convert to the black card. Called twice and was told it couldn't be done . I know some on this forum who state they have done it though.

Gave up for a while but will try again soon.

Re: BofA Regular AMEX conversion to Accelerated Cash Rewards AMEX...

After all that "all went well" story with my conversion the other day, I got an alert from TC that something changed w/ my EX report today.. I checked and found out BofA did an inquiry on my CR today.. I know I did a product change and as the analyst explained, would be softing me for that.. well, they did a hard on my EX.. I immediately called their backdoor # and explained, the guy kept on telling me it can't be as the one they did wouldn't affect my score as if I don't know the difference, I explained I know the difference between a hard and a soft inquiry and that I am in front of my computer looking at my EX report and that it shows as a hard inq.
He stated He would file a dispute with the CRA to remove that inq. saying it takes a month to report so it would be deleted by next month.. I guess it remains to be seen.. I have read alot of stories about inq's being hard to take away.. Smiley Sad

It's never a good idea to initiate dispute inqs on your own, but when a bank admits that they shouldn't have put one in and offers to remove it themselves, it shouldn't cause any problems.

It's people trying to dispute through the CRA's, or calling creditors and begging that they remove an inq for GW, that frequently causes blow-ups.

These days it's pretty easy to lock your reports. When they're frozen, no one call pull a "Seeking New Credit" sort of INQ, which is what I'm sure they pulled on you.

I tried to PC from my Plat Plus Visa to this card and was told it couldn't be done.

However, I am not deterred and will try again today.

Re: BofA Regular AMEX conversion to Accelerated Cash Rewards AMEX...

PenFed opened an account for me in error (OD LOC) and agreed that it should be erradicated from my CBR's. It was off all reports in a few days and it did make a difference to my scores. So removal of ANYTHING can be done and quickly. PenFed even sent me a wonderful letter saying they had investigated and agreed that the whole thing was their error and should be removed - it arrived about two or three weeks after it was gone!
