BofA Your Pre-Selected Offer!

So to start the new year my shredder just got a bit happier! I’ve gotten these year after year multiple times a year and the cry wolf syndrome was again in effect only to lure me to click and nick points off of my CS. Don’t get me wrong I’m at least a 3 decade long BofA client no hate. The card that should be in my wallet at most is the one that’s forever absent. You ask why? I’ve banked with them for convenience e-sake but I may play a different tune this year. No love lost. I have a checkered past with them during my “teenage” years take note, but eversince from that experience thereafter, they don’t forgive nor forget and continue to punish if you partake in their offers. Just my humble opinion. Life happens... No biggie the key is lesson learned! Until pigs fly, maybe a secured card as I’ve learned on this awesome site may help or shed some light on the forgiveness or other risk factors. Even folks on the mid to high 700’s CS’s have been turned down as I’ve read on these boards, it’s subjective but sad, whatever their rules may be internally. We all know all about the love/hate relationship in life in effect/in general...I’m thinking why bother?

If you’ve gotten one of these offers recently with a Personal Code, a set APR, a stated least minimum SL and have gotten approved so happy for you Congrats and Happy New Year!

Anyone?

Re: BofA Your Pre-Selected Offer!

B of A closed my credit card as an adverse action in 2001, so I resist every temptation to apply for any of their cards.  And, yes, they send me offers.

Daily Carry: PenFed Power Cash • NFCU Flagship • NFCU More Rewards • Chase Freedom
Sock Drawer: PenFed Promise • NFCU cashRewards • Chase Sapphire Preferred • Chase Freedom Unlimited • United Explorer • UNFCU Azure

Re: BofA Your Pre-Selected Offer!

I actually received one yesterday and decided to go ahead and bite the bullet. I'm in the rebuilding process and was seeking a prime card. My preselected offer came with a personal secure code and an offer of 21.99% APR. I made sure to read thoroughly and it stated it was a firm offer of credit based off information on my report as of 12/10/18 and could vary if the previous information differed. This made me decide to app for it. I was instantly approved for the BankAmericard for $3500 SL. May not be prime card to some, but it's the best I have so far. I'm pretty excited about it Smiley Happy

Re: BofA Your Pre-Selected Offer!

I just received one in the mail yesterday for about the same set APR. Seems I've been getting more of these since cancelling my checking account with them. If they send me an Alaska Airlines offer, I may jump on that.

Re: BofA Your Pre-Selected Offer!

I have had a couple pre-approval letters that I have torn up before I finished the first line. It's nice to get but unless the card is some benefit to me, I don't need it. I think one thing for every person to keep in mind is, if you need a card and it benefits you, then it's something to consider. If it's something that you can make work for you, then it's worth in getting. Otherwise, IMHO, it's not worth it. I've been trimming my cards down slowly as I thought, the more the better and added more cards then necessary. It's something I recommend for everyone to do. Trim down on what you don't need.

For example - OP (no offense, just taking your cards as an example). You have several cards that are redundant - 2 QS, WF Cash Wise and a Chase Freedom UL. All of them are 1.5% CB cards. All of those cards are under the Citi DC 2%/Paypal 2% CB. It's redundant having all of them. If anything, I understand keeping the Freedom UL and the WF Cash Wise as they are of different lenders/banks. Again, this isn't a knock on anyone. It's always nice to have pre-approvals and more cards but with cards, come responsibility and management.

Re: BofA Your Pre-Selected Offer!

I stopped recieving mail offers a while back, now theres just a permenant offer on my checking account page. I honestly don't remember  how long I've been with them ATM, somewhere around 15-20 years though. But I just can't see myself with a CC from them. Back when I wanted a card with them I felt my score wasn't there yet, and now that particular CC is no longer offered. I'd rather bank my reward with either Amex or Chase, instead of getting spread too thin with other cards.

-- 3 decade long BofA client no hate--

1.5 Decade ago, just 1.5 and still full of it. They bought out a bank(it is still there but the latest word in town they will level it soon) in the neighborhood that had a green logo on it. Same people at that bank at that time started lying to us about the fees, straight in a face. Moved my personal and biz accounts over to elsewhere.
