Bread Rewards American Express now open for application/pre-qualification (previously invite only)

Today I noticed that the Bread Rewards (not 2% Cashback card) is now open for pre-qualification applications (not an actual apply button but presumably that comes up if you pre-qualify). Before today it was only available by getting a pre-approved mailer or a forced product change from the Comenity Mastercard.

Overall, it's a pretty enticing card. 3% back on gas, dining, grocery, and utilities. No AF or FTF. Here's the really interesting part... 25% bonus on all rewards earned when you make 20 or more purchases in a billing cycle.

$10 minimum redepmtion for statement credit/direct deposit (unlike their 2% Bread Cashback card with no minimum) but rewards never expire and have multiple ways to redeem including the two mentioned above and also merchandise, gift cards, and travel.

It also has travel accident insurance and a 30% discount on Booking.com.

No public SUB available as is the case with the Bread Cashback, but this is a very interesting card.

I'd be interested to see if anyone prequalifies! I didn't even bother checking as I just got approved for the Bread Cashback a couple weeks ago. It's definitely on my list for next year though after some gardening. What are everyone's thoughts on this card? I know Comenity doesn't have the best reputation and I did have some issues setting up my account once I got my card but other than that it's been okay so far.

I'm quite certain they pull Experian. I did the prequal but was denied, I'm pretty sure with my recent approvals that was gonna be a no go. Think I'm like 6 in 3mtgs already

I pre-qualified for $6750, having both the regular Bread and Comenity AAA. I hit the Accept button against my better judgement, but nothing happened. Tried again, nothing. I got three monitoring alerts for EX, but turns out they were for identity verification. So I re-locked my reports and tried again. This time it took me to another screen, where I had to enter my income and accept the terms. When I hit THAT button, I got the 10-14 day notice. I'm fine with that.

FICO 8 scores Nov/Jan 2021: EQ 779/751, TU 750/770, EX 763/746 Fully recovered from 5-year Ch13 discharged July 2018.
Last recorded: FNBO Evergreen and PSECU Founder's Card Dec 2021. Seriously out of date, at least 10 more since then.

Just applied and it said I was prequalified for up to $8250. I decided not to accept at this time as I was just approved in June for Paypal MC 11K and Penfed Signature visa 5K. I'm still waiting for my BK13 to fall off in 5/25.

4/12 and 5/24 over the past 13 months.

BankCard Score 8: EQ 676    TU 684    EX 702

Cap1 QS 5K

Cap 1 Savor one 3K

Ally MC 4.1K

PenFed Sig. Visa 5K

Paypal MC 11K

I checked for pre-qual solely for the giggles and for datapoints for this thread.

"You are prequalified for up to $7600"

And soft pulled EQ in Michigan

Edit: AND soft pulled EX

----

It does seem to be an interesting card

That being said, I have no interest in this card

  • Comenity
  • Points rather than % and can be devalued
  • Comenity
  • 20 purchases per month to be 1.25%/3.75% vs 1%/3%
  • Amex <- I happen to think highly of Amex, but this card is modeled to be a "Daily Driver" and at least for me Amex (plus comenity..) as a daily driver is shooting myself in the foot
  • No Sub or any form of Intro offer I can find.

Purely for Ss and Gs.

It looks like they pulled EX.  I'm in CA.  My TU and EQ are flawless (800s), my EX has 1 medical collection.  EX is mid/high 700s.  $5550 is pretty low for me.

Not interested in this card as I always get 5% in GGR, why settle for 3.75%?  But I do like the concept of a multiplier for frequent use.  I wish other cards offered that.
