Building Credit

I just pulled all 3 scores TU 626 EQ 554 EX 628.

I have an 8 year history with a few collections from 3 plus years ago. The collections are mainly medical and a time warner account.

Two current accounts including an car for 5 months and a carecredit account with a credit line of 6k and owe $5500-wife charged more than supposed to Smiley Sad  Anyway I know that with that account my utilization is pretty high since that is the only credit account I have. I was just approved the other day from WAMU for $500 but cant seem to find anyone to give a little love on getting approved elsewhere. I tried CCCU as per the forum and havent heard anything from them yet-the said someone would be contacting me? Any ideas on who I could try to get some credit to help raise the scores without getting a ton on Inq?

Thanks

Re: Building Credit

Your EX score is borderline but you might have a shot at the AMEX Gold Delta SkyMiles card.  They pulled EX 647 on me at time of app and I got 2K CL instant approval.

I am not saying that this will work for everyone but i think that this card has a pretty good approval rate.  If you don't fly a lot you can always convert it upon activation if they will allow you to.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Another good place to start would be with your local credit union.

Re: Building Credit

I with AMEX last night and I was declined. In the online denial it said my EQ score was too low and currents accounts were too new. I was thinking of maybe check with my credit union and maybe that will help. Thanks

I believe the minimum EX score for the Delta Gold Skymiles is 645, this according to my source at AMEX.

Re: Building Credit

I made a mistake, amex said it was my experian was too low at 628

Your consumer credit bureau score from Experian is too low  (See below)

Number, type, and recency of inquiries (Experian)

Too many new accounts (Experian)

Delinquency reported on accounts (Experian)

I have heard of alot of people on here getting amex with low 600's but cant seem to get it in.

Re: Building Credit

CCCU declined me as well. Not enough rebuilding time behind me yet. Told me to check back in about 12 months Smiley Sad I think that I'm done applying around to keep them inq.'s down.

Good idea. Make limited use of your cards now and PIF monthly.  In six months what you have will probably CLI you anyway.
