Capital One's automated CLI system SUCKS. Well, C1 just sucks in general. I don't think the aggravation is worth keeping this account active. I've had the card since July 2007, had 2 30's... one over 2 years ago, and the other just over 1 year ago. Account has been confirmed in good standing, have activity, and they STILL won't approve a CLI. AMEX increases my limit from 2k to 5.9, but I can't get over this 300 with C1. Ridiculous. Even after talking with one of their corporate executive committee reps who explained their system, nobody can "manually" review my account and approve an increase. I wish I never would have opened this account.

I don't think Cap1 does CLI's. Aside from their credit steps program.
Not true! I got one in April on my World Card![]()
This is the first I heard of the Credit Steps program. Been searching and reading about it... I hope I'm not too late for it. It looks like something that starts at the beginning of the account, and I'm almost 4 years into mine. I've been stuck at $300 since July 2007 :-/ Although I haven't done GREAT with this card, it's been perfect within the last year (except for a lack of activity for a few months).

Cap1 was my first credit card. I started with a $300 CL and every 3 months they would increase it. It went from 300 to 500 to 750 to 1,000 and stopped and has been that way for the last year and a half. I called recently and asked for a CLI and was told they no longer do CLI's aside from their credit steps program and that mine was done.
There is a reason they have commercials with Vikings and weapons.... it is a good representation on how they conduct business with their customers. Of all my creditors, they were the worst to work with. In fact, they did absolutely nothing to work with me on my CO. I even called before my payments went behind and essentially begged for assistance and they told me they could do nothing until the card was over 90 days past due, and after it was they still did nothing to help me. Target and HSBC were absolute saints to work with compared to Capital One. I do not want to work with Capital One ever again! Luckily, there are plenty of other card providers available.
I have two Cap1 CC's that I obtained when I was rebuilding my credit last year, I was in the credit steps, 300 to 500 and 500 to 750, they do not do customer initiated CLI's. (Or CLI's on this type of card period!!!)
I will be dumping these Cap1 CC's in the next few months!!!!
I'm sure with their higher end card's they may be a little more generous with CLI's, but I will never know because I'll never app for another Cap1.
