CAP1 question

I was thinking about apping for a CAP1 and combining it with the 1 I currently have. My question is when the card comes and I call to have them combined will they put both cards on my reports for a certain amount of time before they show just the 1 card?

Re: CAP1 question

I think that's a good strategy.

If I were doing that, I'd wait for at least 3 months. Give the card a chance to be run up, pif'd, and cycle that a few times. I'd say the more times the better, but that's just my feelings. Besides, after 3 months of paying on time, NEVER going over the limits, you have a good chance of getting an automatic cli at the 3 month mark.

Re: CAP1 question

I opened the card in Sept 2007. It's the starter card. I called the backdoor number to get a CLI and the rep told me they couldn't really give me a CLI on the card I currently have.

Re: CAP1 question

It went from $300 then $500 and now it's $600. The last few times I called I got that same response. I was told by 1 rep I should app 4 a better card & combined the 2

Re: CAP1 question

Oh horse hockey! Sure they can! You just called to early. Give it some time to age. It'll get there.

Re: CAP1 question

The main reason I wanna do that is because I want all of my cards to be on a rewards program. Without rewards I see no point in using the card

Re: CAP1 question

I agree with the above post. I recently combined my two Cap1 cards. It is great so far!

Re: CAP1 question

cap one does give cards that can only go so high.  I got a new card from them and about eight months later combined them using the oldest date.  I would wait awhile.

Re: CAP1 question

When you get the new Cap 1 wait until you have recieved at least 1 cli and then combine. It may be best to wait even longer until both reach near their max cl and then combine them for the best possible cl. If combined sooner your ultimate cl may not be as high. And when you combine be sure to tell them that you want to keep the oldest credit history. They usually do but need to tell them that to be sure.

Personally, I will most likely apply for a 2nd card with them after my first card gets its first cli.  It is only 1 month old now and will go form $750 to $1250 in another 2 months or so.
