CC Increase?

Helllo, I have read a lot re: talking with an underwriter for an increase.  I have tried desperately, even spoke to a manager in the dept and couldn't get an increase.. I only asked for $100 increase!  They gave it to me a few months ago, my HSBC was $300 limit, they increased to $400 when they promised $500.  I have excellent credit history with them, and my balance is practically $0.  However, my credit score is not good.  What gives?? I thought it was easy to get a a CLI.. The underwriting thing has never worked for me!

Re: CC Increase?

Okay you are probably dealing with one of their subprime cards.  Don't use it a lot and PIF.  You will generally have to wait at least six months between increases with these guys.  Just be happy that they are not charging you for it.  Is it possible to clean up your reports a tad bit to see if that generates new offers? Just remember keep uti low or you will not only be looking at no increases but a hefty rate-jacking to boot

Thanks guys!  Keep util low.. Does that mean not use it at all..?  I am planning on PIF, keeping it open then shredding it and not using it!

Re: CC Increase?

I have couple of those cards they sent me with $300 limit about a year ago and later increased it to $400. I use the card for lunch couple of times a month and pay it off once the bill comes. That is it. I am going to leave them they are for a while and see if they keep increasing the scores. You might want to consider apping for Hooters. They seem to be very generous with CL. Their interest rates are very high. If you can do PIF every month, you could get a Hooters with decent limits. You might also want to try for one of the Barclays cards like itunes/carnival and other. They might give you a decent limits. Also might want to go to your local CU and see if they might give you either secure or unsecure card.
