Over the past year I have gone on a protracted app frenzy and have acquired 7 new cards - I now have a total of 8 cards. After reviewing my credit picture today, I realized that there is definitely one card that I regret apping for - my BP gas card. I have realized that I don't really go to BP's that often so it's an annoyance to periodically put a charge on the card.
So how about everyone else? Any recent (or not so recent) apps/new cards that you regret?
I'm glad you clarified the reason you'd want to close the BP. Mine is on the way! ![]()
I was having one of those "what did I do?" moments!
I just realized you have the gas card...I got the Visa. My bad.

For the most part gas/store cards do not require very frequent use to remain open. (That is open as opposed to active.)

He has a BP gas card. You're getting a BP Visa, Mo. Yours is a better card by far.

Yes. I shop at Kohl's, and I used to shop at Old Navy quite a bit - actually alot, until they discontinued my favorite jeans - the previously styled painter's pants. Well, I wanted a card to buy clothes so I thought I'd apply for Kohl's. They denied me - first time I've been denied credit. So in a panic (
) thinking something must be wrong, I applied at ON and was granted a mere 300 CL. So I've gone to ON and even Gap to look for a reason to use my new ON card and cannot find anything I want to buy...
So now I have like 5 or 6 new accounts since Feb, and I really wished I didn't apply for this card as it is bringing down my AAoA for a measly 300 CL. Which brings another issue to mind:
I think if you apply for a credit card, or any credit for that matter, you should be given the option to ACCEPT or DECLINE the account. Now it really makes no sense for me to close the account since it will still be figured in AAoA anyway...
I somewhat regret app'ing recently for:
Discover $2k
CapOne (Professional Ultra) $3k
Got both, but were by far the lowest CL's, and for the effect they have on AAoA, had I to do it again, I would not app them again at this point.
Cards I DON'T regret recently app'ing:
Alliant $10k
PenFed $10k
NFCU $25k & $15k
Juniper Biz $15k
Rooms To Go /GEMB $6.5k (interest free till 2013 on about $4.5k)
Care Credit /GEMB $14k (will use 18 months no interest on dental - not whole CL though)
Cards recently dumped:
Orchard/HSBC $750
Previous Cards that I kept:
BoA BancAmericard Reward Visa $10k
Chase Freedom Plus $3.5k (former WAMU)
CapOne (original builder card) $1k
BoA Biz CC w/LOC $25k
Macy's Store $1.5k
Macy's Charge $1.1k
Cards previously closed:
Amalgamated Bank of Chicago $15k (secured, original builder card - closed when BoA issued unsecured)

This would be most reasonable. Reasonable revolving credit... that ought not be an oxymoron!

I don't understand how this happened at all. Maybe all your other available revolving credit scared them off. I did a lot better!

This one will grow. Just keep hitting the luv button every time it shows itself.

Yeah, I mean seriously... Say I'm on Circuit City and want to buy this surround sound for say $2000 and they are offering 0% interest for 6 months if approved. Now I am only interested in this purchase so if I apply and they only give me a 500 CL, and can't buy this item anyway yet I am now stuck with this account. You should have the option to decline this offer of credit and the tradeline that comes with it.
