That still amazes me!
How long does the Affinity BT rate last? Is it life of transfer? I like "No BT fee"
Alliant credits within 18 seconds to $2500. So 18 hours is good on Affinity, but 18 seconds is better
I do think this has something to do with your credit as well. I think they put each account on a limit based on their rating, past deposits, etc. Maybe the value will go up over time.
I'll have to check Affinity out. Concorduser said he had some good results with them as well.
The SO got the pre-app to take her card from $10K to $50K very recently. She told me she didn't want it. Yesterday she hauled off and did something - exactly what is not clear. But I can say she is sitting with an approval for a $30K PCR card. (Her approval was almost instant.) She either got the $10K bumped to $30K -or- she is getting a separate $30K card. I will have to wait a few days to find out which. She still has all her secured pre-app's (as do I), in her case including, among many other things, a $50K new or used auto loan. They are tight at the front door, but if upon admission you demonstrate worthiness things greatly improve.
From $10k to $50k? That is quite some jump.
I understand that this is my newbie treatment....but just because I understand what it is doesn't mean I gotta like it ![]()
Congrats on the SO $30k and $50k invites!
She aimed very low on her initial app. ![]()
You find out what PenFed really thinks of you when they pass out the pre-app's.
BTW - I didn't mention she has around 800 FICO's and went BK long enough ago that it has fallen off the CBR's. Nice comeback I'd say,
Ahhh, a cut of the same cloth.
I was forced into a BK in 1998....so fallen off. Achieved 814/810 FICO this year....down 30 points due to recent apps and new accounts.
So I can appreciate the "comeback" being that I made the same long journey ![]()
Nice job!
Can't wait until the little bit of bad stuff I have hanging on the fringes falls off and I can go to high FICO land. Gimme a few more years. Until then I suspect I am capped around 750 or so.
Crummy 750! ![]()
There are many on these boards who would give an appendage for that score. Sounds like you are definitely on the right track.
I am not complaining at all. I have done a wonderful job of fixing myself up and I have gotten more in the last two years than I could have possibly expected, 700 was a glimmer in the distance that I now have passed. The rest is just a matter of time and continuing to pay everything promptly.
This board has been vital!

My regret is First Premier. I hate the fees on that card, and I finally taken advantage of my Wachovia bill pay in my checking account, therefore, eliminating that "annoying" $7 fee for paying online.
This would annoy me beyond all belief. There is no possible justification this fee.
Once again a potentially interesting thread is TJ'd and turned into a Penfed/Alliant thread. Longwinded posters going on and on about the good, the bad, and the ugly of these CUs. This would be fine and good if the title of this thread contained the names of either of these CUs. It doesn't.
I have always avoided any thread about Penfed because they are almost always filled with long posts of disagreement on the merits of this CU.
There must be a hundred or more threads regarding these CUs. Why must some of you have turned this into another one?? Come on...8 pages of posts on this thread and only 2 or less deal with the original topic. Ridiculous.
My appologies before hand to the "referees" here. I'm just sick about the time I wasted muddling through this thread. My own fault for not bailing after the first post on Penfed.
