My friend was looking for a low interest card to replace her current 20% interest wells fargo credit card.
I was looking at the BofA rewards card but really dont know which card has the best interest and rewards really.
She travels and rents a car a lot (at least 2 times a month for a week )
I saw the BofA was 0% for 12-18months then about 13% after- is that the best option for her?
FICO Scores? Age? Income?
It all depends.
I have a World Points MasterCard from BofA. The rewards are...average. The World Points website looks like it was strung together in 20 minutes.
I'm sure there are better rewards programs out there. But again, it all depends on her scores, age, income, etc.
I believe her scores are 720+ and she is 31
owns her car that she paid off and owns a home.
she only has the 1 credit card and just looking for a better one with a better interest
rate and hopefully some rewards
income I believe is about 60k
Well she's going to have a ton of options.
I'd recommend Amex Blue, Discover More, and Chase Freedom just based off of reviews, but I don't have any of these cards myself. Just have her do research and look into which cards will best suit her based on how the rewards work. Read a bunch of reviews, etc.
Also, don't forget about other things as well. American Express offers Car rental insurance for free if you use their credit card. Would this benefit her? She might save money on a feature like that.
Also, although not always true, cards that offer good rewards tend to have higher interst rates. It may be best to have a card that offers great rewards, and use that for smaller purchases, and PIF every month, yet have a second card that has a low interest rate, and use that if you have to carry a balance.
I guess the rewards are not as important- she just wants a good interest rate- She uses the card mostly for work who often takes their time in reimbursing her so she gets stuck paying interest on the balances
There is a brand new Credit Card Center offered here at myfico. You can access it at the top of the page. It features hundreds of different CC's. You can do a search based on your particular situation to see if you might qualify for any particular card. Just remember that having a FICO score within a certain range is not enough to guarantee acceptance of an application.
It's worth checking out.

I know this is often mentioned to many (insert broken record here), but I would suggest your friend check out her local Credit Union(s) to see what they offer. Next up would be the large national CUs such as Alliant. Most offer a rewards card with a very reasonable interest rate. Some also offer non-rewards cards that are a couple % points lower than the rewards offering. Even PenFed has a "Promise" non-rewards card with a decent interest rate. Worth checking out.
The tab at the top of the page has temporarily disappeared. You can access the Center here: Credit Card Center.
