CFPB Complaint on a store card who to file against?

Hi,

I'm filing a CFPB complaint against my Walmart Credit Card. The complaint is because I have not yet received my sign up bonus of a $75 gift card and it's been over 4 months.

Do I file it against Walmart or against the issuing bank?

Issuing bank (Synchrony).   What have they said when you've contacted them on this issue?

Synchrony says it's not their problem. They refer me to Walmart customer service.

I call Walmart they verify they I should have received it, check the notes then say okay I've put in a request and you'll receive it in a week. It's supposed to be an E-Gift Card so they say check your spam and I check every day but still nothing and at this point I've called over a dozen times and it's just getting ridiculous.

CFPB had an option to select Walmart Store Card for the company to file against so I selected that one.

So should I contact Synchrony? Because I tried and they shut me down and said no that's Walmart's problem.

Yes. I don't think you can file a complaint against WalMarr, since they didn't issue the card. Synchrony did.

Total CL $398600, plus car and RV loan.
Ooh. Ooh. Getting closer to that $500K mark!

Yeah but they manage it. Like say you have an issue with your Kohl's charge wouldn't you contact Kohl's not CapOne?

And what do I do then since Synchrony just refers me back to Walmart.

No, you would contact CapOne if you had an issue with your Kohls credit card.  Any cobranded card is managed by the issuing bank not the store, airline, hotel, etc, etc.

I've contacted CapOne about my Kohls charge and they referee me back to Kohls. I think store cards are different than hotel/airline cards.

What exactly do I tell synchrony then because they shy me down immediate any time I bring it up. They say no sorry we don't deal with that. Call Walmart at this phone number. Have a good day!

Have you sent a letter via certified mail to Sync yet? That's where I would start. Sync's CS is not the best, plus it's almost imposible to speak with any type of a supervisor, etc.

 

Have you gone into a WM and complained to their CS? They very may well have contac info for Sync for this type of issue.. (We have a variety of backdoor #'s for Citi at work - they do our CC's, and the numbers we have are NOT the normal customer contact numbers)

 

CapOne shouldnt be referring you Kohls either for a card issue, unless it is something specific to Kohls end of the card (such as an in store discount that you are promised, etc.)
