Hi all,
I'd like to share my experience overseas with the Amazon prime visa card from Chase. So we all know this card has no FTF but to my greatest surprise I also earned 2% back at all my retaurant spend in Europe last summer. This card alway advertised the US restaurant bonus cat but I don't remember seeing in the fine prints that the bonus cat at restaurants extends overseas. I haven't tried the other bonus cat such as gas and pharmacies, but I can definitely confirm that I got 2% back on restaurants in France.
The reason I'm sharing this is because it can be a game changer for some people that travel and use cash back as their primary rewards program and did not know this. It is for me at least since my gold card is basically useless overseas. Until I potentially get a CSP or CSR, this card will definitely be my swiper overseas as far as restaurants.
Can anyone confirm this? Hopefully it's not a bug in their system. Definitely don't want a cash back clawback on my account.
You received bonus points correctly.
Chase, with possibly a few exceptions I can't think of, does award bonus category points on international purchases.
Most of the major issuers do award them. Amex is an exception in that it often restricts bonus categories to US purchases.

That's good to know. I got a bit excited about this since I had no idea and this is the only visa CC I have with no FTF. At least until I hopefully get a CSR.
Thanks for your input!

Yes, so another good no AF dining card internationally would be Barclays Uber, for 4%
FWIW: CHase Amazon DOESN"T earn 5% at the international Amazon sites....
I don't remember or recall this card stating it is "US Restaurants" only/mostly (TBH, i thought only Amex does). I've used this card much in the past for restaurants abroad because of no FTF and 2% restaurants. This was during the time before I got PayPal 2% everything, and the Costco Visa 3% restaurants (which will now be superceded by my Uber Visa 4% restaurant). All these cards have no FTF.
