CHASE CC

My fiance has had an auto loan with chase for almost 4 years now and she has had no late payments every....she only has the auto loan and a $300 kohls card on her credit. Her credit is around a 608. She wants to try and get a CC. What are her odds of getting approved with CHASE for a CC if she goes to them? Will chase see that shes had nearly 4 years of excellent payment history and approve her? What are yalls experience with this and also if you have any advice please let me know

Thanks

Realistically if that score is a FICO 08 credit score, then her chances aren't that great.  While Chase also uses an internal scoring system as well as FICO scores, she would need to be over 650 or so to have a chance.  How old is the Kohls card?  Chase also wants to see some history with revolving credit and typically higher than a $300 limit before they'll approve you.  The auto loan while certainly not hurting her if all payments have been in time, doesn't help that much when it comes to obtaining unsecured credit.

Is there anything in her credit file that is 'bad' like collections, chargeoffs, etc?

In the end, if she tries and is denied, the one or two HPs that would result are not that harmful and if she is willing to call on recon, then she might learn what Chase is looking for in her file.  Chase however isn't known for being that willing to be the grantor of your first major credit card so might she consider trying for a CapOne or similar type card to build more of a file?

Re: CHASE CC

Would you suggest her going for the Capital One Plat and the Capital One QS and just let those build for a bit?

Yes, that would be a good idea and let them age for about 6 months.  Also, where are you getting the 608 score from?

That's your first mistake-using CK.  While they are good for looking at reports for TU and EQ, the scores they give you are Vantage 3.0 scores, not FICO scores. Vantage scores are used by few, if any, creditors. She needs to pull her 3 reports and FICO scores from either here or CreditCheckTotal. She definitely needs scores for EQ and EX as those are the ones that Chase typically pulls.
