CL increase at activation?

What do you guys say when you call to activate your card and request a CL increase at the same time?

Do you call the activation number, or do you call a different number?

I've never done that before---didn't even know you COULD. Hubby just got a 3,500 card from wAMU, but I'd like to try to get a CL increase on it. Just need to know how this is done, what to say, etc.

Hi Cheech. For me it totally depends on the cc. Most activation tele #'s are automated, so you don't even get the chance. Unless you call back. If I get a real person on the line I ALWAYS ask: am I eligible for a cli at this time? (if not, I ask why?).

Always worth a shot. Sometimes they say sure....but will result in a hard inq. So be careful.

3. i am expecting to make a major purchase and would like to use this card, but don't want it maxed out.

really your limited only by your imagination, the above are just things that pop in to mind.

oh, i usually call the number on the back of the card, before calling the number on the sticker. a good amount of the time the activation number is totally automated.

i would say probably not because the excuse i was given with my cards was that i was already approved with the higest limit they could over based on my CR within the days before I received my card. so that pretty much would make sense.....i agreed......
