As I've posted before, I'm rebuilding my credit, and working on paying down my high utilization - 80% YIKES. It's only been recently that I've really been taking on this formidable task. In the past, I didn't know about the every 4-6 month call for cli with cards - so I never asked.
Since I've been reading through all the threads about increases other people have received, I thought I'd give it a shot.
Nordstroms was $500 now $750 called the # on back of card, asked for $1000, countered with the $750
Macy's was $200 now $1000 called the backdoor # listed on a most awesome thread, instantly offered $1000
JC Penneys was $900 now $1100 called the # on back of my card, instantly offered $1100
Capital One was $750 declined, utilizaton too high, worth a shot, will keep paying down and try back in 4 months
Lane Bryant was $750 now $900 - hit the luv button on website, but will call next time in 4 months to see if I get a better increase
Children's Place was $150 had one look at the cli request form on the website and said forget it. Wants to verify bank accounts, numbers and such - not worth the hard pull.
Not huge increases, but as I see it, my scores are EQ 617 EX 637 TU 605 - Not good. So I'm happy with my results.
Macys is always a hard pull when asking for an increase.
Congrats on having (mostly) successes!
I, too, didn't know about the self-requested CLI's until I came here and have always just waited mine out. I'll be hitting the luv button on mine in the near future.
My Macy's store card has gone from 400.00 to > 9,000.00, never a hard pull for a CLI.
Most recent increase was fro 500.00 Sept 2010.
Not happy that the CL doesn't report anymore

score-building,
That's good news. Was your September increase automatic or did you request it?
I called in April 2010, I got the CLI but I also got my first hard pull from Macy's for a CLI. I've put off calling them for an additional CLI 'cuz I'm unclear about whether it will result in a hard pull.

Thanks beamMEup, the only reason I took the chance was because I had EX frozen.
On my previous request, months earlier, csr did say it would be a HP, so I declined to thaw and asked if they could use a recent report they had already pulled (like they used to) csr said they didn't have one recent enough--glad I waited and then got lucky the next time around (sept.) with the timing apparently.
I think the Children's Place card is definetely worth the hard pull...my CL was $1,100 and just last week I asked for a CLI and got 1,210, a total of $2,310!! Restoration Hardware gave me $800 and New York & Co. only gave me $200 but i'll take it. Pottery Barn harded me and didn't even give me a CLI, they pulled EX which has the bogus new collection which is still being investigated. I will recon them as soon as it come off.
