I have had my Discover It cash back for a little over a year now, my SL was $15,000. I just applied for a CLI and was denied.
All of my Ficos are over 760, and I have never missed a payment. Current Util across all cards is 3%.
I just got approved for an Amex plat a few days ago which brings my total inquires to 3 (1 in the last 12 months).
I want to try and add one more revolver before I start gardening for a while. On the discover site it pre-approved me for the It cash back (already have) and the it miles card.
My question is this; would having been recently denied a CLI dampen my chances of getting the second discover (it miles card)? I was wondering if they saw something they didn't like or if it was just standard as they are kind of weird with giving Increases?
Do the pre-approvals take into considering that I already have one of their cards? I'm thinking now because they approved me for one I already had.
My other choice would be to try and add another Amex, probably BCP.
Any advice would be great!

If you are pre-approved, you would likely be approved for another Disco. I doubt it would be another $15k card, their 2nd card approvals have been generally lackluster as of late, but who is to say for sure. Does your spend on your current card require you having a higher than $15,000 CL on a 5% rotator? Have you crunched the numbers on your spend to see which card would yield you the best rewards/cash back? The It Miles and the BCP have a vastly different reward structure. I would do that and apply for whichever card seems to be the most valuable in return for you.
OP, as mentioned upthread by Ficoproblems247, Discover will take into consideration your existing account, exposure-wise.
Although outcomes will certainly vary for every profile, some members who have a decent exposure on an existing Discover card have reported being approved for a 2nd one with a much lower SL, as in $1K, for instance. That's not to say you couldn't be approved for anything higher, but they will not be as generous with the 2nd one based on reported DPs.
@FinStar I'm pretty sure Miss Disco would laugh at me if i apped for a second card... Would like to open a second one and move some of my CL onto it though so i can have my cake and eat it too... Using the card, and parking a BT or 0%offer on the other card...

There's always opportunities. I know some members may clutch their pearls and cry foul if Discover were to approve a 2nd card with a low (or $1K SL), for example. But, you can leverage reallocation at that point (if the option is available or you're contacted be their UW department) so this way, one can have both cards at decent CLs and grow them together over time. That's what I did with mine 😁.
But, given the current lending environment and Discover in general, that's why I opted to leave both as is.
