Just called CAP 1 automated line and was turned down for a CLI.
500L, had it nearly 3 years. Never asked for one, never a late payment and only $100 balance on the card currently.
The line said that no customer service rep would be able to help me?
Any thoughts?
Cap1: 877-513-9959
Try that number and you should be able to speak with someone who can either grant a CLI or atleast tell you if this card is stuck at this limit forever.
A few years ago I had a 300 Capitol 1 card. I asked for a CLI and they told me that that "type of account" didn't allow CLIs. I dont know if they still do this but Capitol 1 was issuing multiple small CL cards to sub-prime people (I was back then) rather than increase the limit so they could collect more fees from the account owners when the went over the limit and annual fees.
This is way I cancled the account and would never get any product from them.

Call and speak to rep. I got the same denial using the automated system. I called the number that is posted in this thread and got a cli.
Edit:: Actually I used this #: 800-889-9939
The below is true. My Cap1 card is not elig for customer initiated CLIs. It was issued through an agreement to settle a charge off. The initial limit was $200 and I have received 1 CLI in almost five years bringing it to a whopping $500. So even though my information regarding the card states it can reach $3500, it more than likely will never happen. I was advised to apply for another card in order to obtain a higher limit (yeah that makes sense). I denied due to previous bad accounts with Cap1 (the one I settled, paid and was issued a new card for). Guess the bright side is they didnt use an inquiry - just internal information. I think Credit Steps was created after people like myself, the below poster and others received the cards that do not grow with you.
