CLI for Chase and NFCU question...

Good morning. Question, my Chase Preferred cc limit is 5500(opened  12/2024) and my NFCU Flagship is 7100(also opened 12/2024).

I've read to wait 92 days before requesting for an increase with Navy, does this rule also applies for Chase?

Is there anything I need to do make sure the increase is approve(besides for the obvious-paying on time)?

Thank you in advance for your help

Re: CLI for Chase and NFCU question...

I opened my CSR last month, and requested a CLI this week. The system declined it due to it being recently opened, but I called their recon line and an underwriter increased it in line with my Amex and Citi card limits. Took about 5 minutes.

Current active cards:
Amex - Platinum, BCE
BofA - Unlimited Cash Rewards Sig
Chase - CSR, Amazon Prime
Citi - Custom Cash, Costco Visa
TCL - $270k
CC utili - 2%
Experian - 804

Thank you. Do you think they'll  increase my limit even though I have two new cc's?

Re: CLI for Chase and NFCU question...

The underwriter did ask me why I had a bunch of inquiries the last year but I explained them all and he was good with it.

I'm not sure what their criteria is, but it is possible.

Re: CLI for Chase and NFCU question...

Noone can tell you that calling the recon will get a CLI, but I always say to recon if denied. You never know what will happen, and you already took the HP's, so might as well. Just remember, everyone's credit profile is different, and what works for one, may not not work for someone else, especially depending on thin/or thick (aged) their credit is.

I reconned Chase 3 times, with 3 different reps many years ago (and I still had a BK on file at the point too, and they were IIB), and got approved for the card. So, If if the 1st recon fails. Call back later that day, or a few days later, and just be honest when they ask you questions, and plead your case. Smiley Happy
