CLI increase question

Sometime in the next several months, once I hear back on my Amex Delta recon (IT IS TAKING FOREVER--GRRRR) I am going to ask for CLIs on my bank Visa, the Citi and the BoA cards (see sig). I have never had a CLI before and was wondering if it results in a HP. Does it?

Re: CLI increase question

Different from card issuer to card issuer.  Often, even with same card issuer the policy isn't consistent.  Please look at the cli soft or hard thread that is in the stickies.  I believe citi and bofa is ymmv, people have seen both hard and soft.  Bank visa I have never heard of.  What is card issuer?

Re: CLI increase question

for the BOA it's near certainty that it will be a HP. Citi might be possible with a soft.

Re: CLI increase question

Requested a CLI on my Citibank AAdvantageback in January, June, and this month. Was denied in January and June. Both were SP's. Was approved this month but it was an HP. Went from 5k to 8.5k. My utilization was quite high for my first two requests. I PIF before making this most recent request.

Re: CLI increase question

Severine,

You might want to consider a card issuer with CLI friendly policies if you can spare the inquiry and new card line.  Don't see a CLI friendly issuer on your sig line.  I like to have one or two card issuers with CLI friendly policies to help push the other card issuers along with auto-cli.  CLI friendly policies basically means that they always soft pull CLI and allow you to request often and willing to grant high limits.  For the longest time I never bothered to push my CLIs up.  Really only in the last year have I made concerted effort to increase my CLs.

Amex is obvious choice for CLI friendly policies.  GEMB is also CLI friendly.  However, how sure which GEMB card is high limit friendly given that they mostly issue store cards.
