NFCU statement came out at $450, down from $3150. I pulled my reports to see if NFCU had updated yet, and to my surprise, I noticed that BoA reported mid-cycle. My $0 previously showing is now $842. This upsets me but must have been due to a transaction that BoA thought was fraudulent (I was trying to pay my electric bill online). I ended up paying for the bill with a different card, and had to call customer service to take the block off my card. BoA has now updated the current balance with Experian. In a few days it will almost definitely be on EQ and TU as well. Ridiculous. This extends my time to bring my score up.

Wow sorry to hear the mid cycle because I know you planned this very well

Well, I will get through it. I just initiated a payment with BoA for my full balance plus any pending transactions. That should post in a day or too and I will be back at $0 balance. Then I will try updating my address on the web page to but submit the same address that is already set there. I have a feeling that this will do another mid-cycle update and put me back at $0 a bit earlier.
If it doesn't work, I will wait until the next statement. BoA's fraud department sometimes gets way too excited.
It is frustrating. But I will drink water and drive on, adapt and overcome.

I have also heard the address change will cause the mid cycle update so you should be good to go.
Good luck and Happy app'ing
So the payment went through and I tried to update my address online, but got a message that the address I was trying to update was already on file for the card and so the update could not be completed.
I then tried calling in and asking the CSR to do another mid-cycle update, which I explained meticulously, but she didn't understand what I was talking about. So I asked her to update my address and gave her the same address. She said it went through. I am now waiting to see if this worked to get another mid-cycle update.
If EQ is clean and you have had any interest in PedFed, this is probably the right time to look at them. NFCU won't care about 1 inquiry, but PenFed is extremely inquiry sensitive.

I am a member, but have always been a little bit spooked about applying for credit with PenFed and have never tried. EQ is not clean. There is an old paid collection and some paid charge offs. My FICO should go up some more in the next day or two, since NFCU is reporting a low balance, and then should go up even more if I can get this BoA back to $0 after the mid-cycle reporting surprise, but I STILL don't think PenFed is going to approve me.
I would love a Platinum Rewards card with EMV from PenFed... they turn down people even with significantly higher credit scores though.
ETA: you know what, I might as well try. Nobody else is going to pull EQ except for NFCU. Once I get my balances corrected on my reports I will apply for a Platinum Rewards over the phone with PenFed and THEN do the CLIs. PenFed is very intimidating, but since I have low util and no inqs, this is probably my chance, if I have a chance at all.
After thinking about PenFed some more, I think I'm going to pass on it this time. The card is not quite as appealing with the rewards reduction and I can't really make good use of the gas rewards at this time, since the gas stations I use do not offer the ability to pay at the pump. I can garden for another two years easily, since I am in the UK until 2015.
Update:
SW update for the BoA mid-cycle report. EQ FICO has dropped 5 points to 710. It doesn't look like the address change worked. I will probably just wait until the next statement comes out in less than 2 weeks.... then this account will be at $0 again and I should have max scores. I am seriously thinking about PenFed, using my wife as a co-signer for a joint account.
ETA: Just now, I was able to update my address online successfully. I altered my address slightly (but still same address) and it went though and I got an email alert, which I never got when I tried it over the phone. This should sent another mid-cycle update. I hope this works since this could save me 2 weeks and I am excited to get start my apps and get some results already.
