Back when I decided it was time to garden, I froze EQ and TU (EX was a pain in the butt so just left that alone). In the process of shopping for a car, I unfroze EQ but left the freeze on TU.
I'm the one person in the world that can not get a Synchrony CLI to save my life. I've had Walmart for over 7 months now with perfect payment record, PIF, leaving a balance, using the card etc... nothing, nada, zilch. Tried the LUV button, chats, calling the backdoor numbers etc.
All the rejection letters always state my usual litany of sins (derogs -- foreclosure and tax lien and some collections -- going back to 2010 -- since 2011 or 2012, I've been "clean"). Never anything about security freeze.
However, I've read hear or there that if you have a security freeze, it can interfere with CLI requests.
If I life my TU security freeze (which happens to be my highest score), could/should I start seeing CLIs? Or the fact that they sent the usual decline letters indication that they have "seen" what they need to see and I'm really out of luck for any CLI any time soon...
Thanks in advance for any insight.
Doesn't matter since existing creditors are not blocked by freezes.
That is what I was afraid of... I figured current creditors could always view. Guess I was just hoping that the security freeze might have been the problem... when, in the infamous words of a friend when she was dumping her husband.... "no, <insert name here>, YOU'RE the problem!"

True, but Synchrony won't SP with a freeze. I had to unfreeze my TU to get CLI on Amazon card.
OP, unfreeze your TU, get on the chat.

Same issue here. UW always asks me to thaw TU and call back
Thanks for the link to the thread and for confirming that this isn't an urban legend.
Still not convinced that they will give me a CLI because they never mentioned my frozen TU as being the reason for not granting a CLI at that point... just that "ooo, we're sorry, we can't do that for you now!"
Did you call the Synchrony backdoor number or just use the chat feature for the store in question?
Almost afraid to try -- so tired of being shot down!
Thanks again.
Did the chat, then was told to call into Credit Solutions.
Unfreeze your TU, wait 24 hours, then try their chat. Ask for twice as much as you want

While it may be a factor, I think OP needs to focus on raising TU score. Sync's policy of 4th statement CLIs is not a guarantee. It took me seven statements before the LUV button worked for Wal-Mart. It took 9 statements for Amazon to finally budge. My score was probably ~670 at that time.
Oh, I'm quite sure I have a LOT of problems ;-) Just nice to know that perhaps the security freeze might have been one of them...
I do totally agree on trying to raise the TU (and all scores -- EQ will be the death of me!)
