Re: CLI's with Backdoor Numbers

It is VERY common for Cap1 to respond to your request for a cli very similar to this:

"Thank you for your request for a credit line increase. A credit line increase is not available to our customers upon request. We conduct periodic internal reviews of a customer's file history and base our decision appropriately. We do not grant customer initiated credit line increases. I see you have an excellent payment history, and Capital One does thank you for being a valued customer."

Does that sound familiar anyone?? I've been told that so many times that I can recite it in my sleep. The account specialists are so familiar with the sound of my voice they recognize me!

The moral of this story is: never, ever, ever give up. Never. Optimistic persistence WILL reward you...over time.

I am not trying to be negative by any means. If people are using them to get a native English speaker ... cool. My point is, there seems to be the misconception that they can do more for you. I have called two to three times per month since December and have received the same response: we can't do any more for you (including a manual review) than the front line reps. Both lines have the same abilities.

You are negative by any means.
This is not the first time when such discriminating "opinions" appear on this board, which makes me bery sad.
Hopefully my English is understandable.

You really shouldn't take offense. It's not meant to be offensive.
I am "American" but I am able to effect many different accents and I understand them quite well.
My problem with the non-native English speaking is not that they are non-native English speaking, but it seems that when companies went offshore for these services, they solicited the services of PUPPETS. People who can't think for themselves and do nothing but read from the scripts.

That's my issue. Heck, there are companies here on-shore who do the same thing and they also urk me to the same degree.

I don't care what language you originally speak, I'd just like people to be able to think for themselves, acknowledge and ANSWER my questions, rather than deflect the question and speak from a script.

I once asked an off-shore CSR a direct question. He didn't even respond to the question, which was valid, he simply said, "Thank you for asking. I would like to tell you about xxxx service." I was galled and pissed.

the puppetry is what gets me.
"...what good do your words do if they can't understand you??...."

Re: CLI's with Backdoor Numbers

So I tried again to ask for a CLI on my Cap1 and was shot down once again: said there are no offers and there's nothing she can do at this time. This is after I told her I'd love to use the card more but there's not much I can do with my $500 limit, when I have several cards with limits around $3,000 and wish that they can give me something more in line with that. I've had the card for almost a year and went from $300 to $500 at 3 months but that's it. I'm sitting here scratching my head...

Same here.  I have given Cap1 the "I wish I could use my card more" spiel about twice a month for the last three months.  I still have the same $500 CL you have.  The last time I called, I was told that if I applied for a new card, I would almost certainly get a higher CL, based on my history with them.  But they can't raise the CL on the card I have now?  Brilliant system they have over there.

She told me the same, that I can apply for a new card because my card is a rebuilder. I replied that on the application it said that limits can start at $300-$1,000 so can't they at least give me $1,000? She replied that it's all based on how my credit was at the time of app and it's internal. Pssh... that's why I get AR softs from them every month!

The sad part is that I actually really want a Cap1 card with a good CL in case I travel abroad because they're the only one that doesn't charge a currency exchange fee. But I'm hardly willing to take another 3 hards risking another pathetic CL.

LOL - My Chester just got a bath, too.  (Thanks to Sylvia's post.)  Dog #2 will have to wait until he can be professionally cleaned!
