CLI with my CU or new CC with 0% intro APR?

Hi, new here.

I need to make a largish purchase to complete a project I've been working on. My creidt utilization is pretty high, don't know the exact percentage but it lookslike this

CC;

4600/5000 CU issued Visa

2770/3700 Chase

Dept stores

0/600

2300/5800

400/3800

My DTI is about 25% and I have a FICO of 642, no collections but a few 30 days late.

I'm looking at either a CLI through my CU, whcich has the highest credit utilization..... So that makes me worreid they would deny it. Or a card with a 0% introductory APR, the one I keep seeing the most is Capitol One. I've had a C1 card before but I closed and payed it off 5 years ago, with 2 30 day lates in 2007. That also has me concerned , thinking they will deny me based on hte old lates.

The purcahse I need to make should be paid off pretty quick, 6 months or so if I can get an intrest free introductory offer. If I go with a CLI then it would fall in line behind my highest rate card, Chase.

So what is my best route to take here? CLI with my CU? C1 0% APR card? Another card alltogeteher?

Thanks in advance!

If you are sure to pay off in 6 months, go for 0 percent card. What amount do you need it for? Might not get what you want with new card. Also, if you can temporarily get your utilization down, you would be great position.

I need it for maybe $2500. I'm in somewhat of a time crunch, I'd just wait it out other wise and pay cash.

You need the 0% card, since I presume you are paying interest on the others.

Your fico is iffy. Find a fair lender with 0 percent card. You should get limit to cover that purchase. Maybe even move some balance over to it as well. Maybe that citi card but I would check some credit pull databases to see if you have good chance.

Okay thanks for the help.

Where do I check credit pull DB's? Google?

Just checked citibank. They have a bunch of 0 percent for 18 months cards. Assuming you have a good chance, get one with no annual fee and rewards. Also approved or denied, call analyst for reconsideration for either the card or limit. Citibank in my opinion will raise limits for balance transfers. I'm sure some of your existing card interest rates are outrageous (store card?).

I just applied for a city card, went with the student card through teh Myfico site. Maybe it wasn't eh best, it ws only a 7mo card....

My dept store cards are 0% for 18 months, well within the terms and 14%. It's my Chase card thats super high, I've been paying it down however.

Huh? Why didn't you go to their website. Did you get the 0 for 18 months offer?
