No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
Also my FAKO scores from USAA credit monitoring are close to yours, and my latest actual FICOS are 716 and 723. Yours could be totally different, as we would have completely different files, but just to give you an idea how far it may be off.
i would recommend finding out what your real fico scores are and monitoring them over time.
All suggestions aside...Did you get call recon and explain them the situation
Also please take suggestions on this or any of the forums around with a grain of salt.
Try to get as much info from all sources and then gauge your situation.
I mean really re-consider..Do you really need the credit?.. How will the card help you? Is the bonus justifiable to get a new card? etc
And another thing - No two credit files are the same. Its like fingerprint.
So just don't go apping if some one with a file similar to yours was approved for a Platinum, Iridium, Rhodium etc cards. You don't know the exact picture the poster has..sometimes they overlook something..somtimes blatantly lie..
And also its not true that if your Fako is in XXX your Fico will be lower than it ..It can be higher or lower..No one in this or any other forum does know that ..You know us mortals like to speculate..
Do what your common sense tells you to..
Ultimately it will be Your card, Your debt, Your liability.

Not necessarily - it varies by lender. As you pointed out, everyone's credit experience and results will vary. Just because you decided to "play dumb" does not necessarily translate into other individuals embarking on 22+ inquiries to increase their chance for approval - for any product.
While annecdotally some have achieved success with your stated scenario (albeit using the reconsideration channel vs. qualifying for automatic approval) or not having a good handle on basic credit habits to achieve said goals (e.g. excessive inquiries, etc.); others prefer the opportunity to learn the best approach and position themselves for approval while minimizing any collateral damage to their credit files.
+1
also to add.........getting approved is one thing.
but getting approved for the lowest APR rates is another. Usually borderline approvals land you up with the highest and most ridiculous APR rates, so it's essentially forcing you to not leave a balance. Kinda defeats the purpose of having a credit card somewhat.
I haven't read the entire thread yet; however, APR is a poor measurement of quality of card.
In the OP's case, he's not carrying balances anyway, APR = whatever.
In the general case, go pickup a rainy day credit card at a low APR (10% or less, which is roughly half of what a common rewards APR is), do whatever it takes to get the CL up to a usable floating balance level, and save that for emergencies and go out and get the best rewards cards for your spending profile and ignore APR on all of them.
