It's important to note that the change from 10&10 to just 10% for the Freedom card Chase Exclusives program works out better in some cases. Before it was 10% on your BASE SPEND, plus 10 points per transactions. Now it's only 10%, but on POINTS EARNED. So, you get 1.1% on non-bonus spending, and 5.5% on bonus spending vs. 1.1% and 5.1% before (plus the 10 fixed points). For those that only use this card in 5% bonus categories, they could see a net gain of 2,400 UR points per year in lieu of this change if they max out each quarter.
Good catch, bribro! Excellent to know! My only key rewards cards are Freedom and CS (well, besides JCP for strictly JCP since it blows my other rewards out of the water), so ever since I opened my checking account I've only been using the CS for restaurants and the Freedom for essentially everything else!
Now I doubly can't wait for that restaurant 5x category next quarter
This thread is a fascinating read for someone with new chase cards. I just got the CSP, Freedom and Slate. I know Slate has no rewards (got it for the BT promo) but I really want to be able to maximize my rewards with the CSP and Freedom. Hmmm. I may have to think about switching my direct deposit from WF to Chase...such a pain and hassle to do though. But I guess that 10% bonus would really make it worth it.
I think chase stopped offering this to new members.

Question- are those who were Chase credit card clients prior to 11/2012 still able to qualify for this if they open a checking account, or is that only people who had the cards and the account at that time? Just trying to wrap my mind around this.
They are no longer accepting anyone into the program. if you weren't in it prior to it's cancellation, you can't join now. Believe me I've tried - I just missed the cutoff.

This is awesome reading since I now have the chase trifecta.
enjoy it while you can, its being nerfed. I'll edit and update OP when that happens.

The program will only run until the end of this year anyways. Even those who were grandfathered in will be swapped over to the new structure (no more 10 points per transaction) in 2014.. You'd only be missing out for a year at most.
Well, I'm certainly enjoying it this quater...using it for cheap fast food stuffs...less than $10, so giving me back > 2% on the each transaction from the extra 10 pts alone. With the category bonus > 7%. I'll miss you, extra 10 pts.
so this Chase trifecta is still awesome right?
I recently got the Freedom and CSP, and been doing the research to try and maximize the possible rewards. I plan on going to the Chase branch and opening up an account. I know it's changed from when this thread started back in 2012, but there are still great benefits of having all 3 right (Freedom, CSP, checking)?
