Doing some googling and seeing past articles of 50,000 and even 100,000 UR bonus signups for CSP.
Does anyone know what they typically do around summer/holidays? It seems like its been 40k for a while, and I'm sure they've got to up it to keep up with the appeal of the higher Freedom bonus (even though it is half).

That's definitely not "keeping up". Sorry, no idea on trends. I don't track sign on bonuses for cards but you could look at prior threads.

the 50k signup bonus was rare, and available for CPC clients from what I understand.
the 100k bonus will most likely never be back.
Not sure about never, but for now the trend on CSP seems to be in the opposite direction, increasing the spend needed to get the bonus.
And as I have pointed about before, Freedom had a $300 bonus at the beginning of 2012 , http://millionmilesecrets.com/2012/01/25/300-30000-points-chase-freedom-targeted-75000-points-chase-...
And the article refers to it "being back" and replacing the not so good $250 bonus. But it hasn't come back since then. This makes me think that asking questions about trends isn't very useful, as we don't know the parameters and their values that makes the CCC want to increase or decrease bonuses to any particular level
Well this is what I have done.
I signed up for the CSP and have already spent roughly $5k in the first 2 months of having the card.
So thats the 40,000 + my ~7,000 points from normal spending/dining and using their 'Shop through Chase' portal online (which I LOVE).
I recieved 5,000 points for adding an AU too.
I then signed up for the $200 Chase Freedom offer, so thats another 20,000 plus the AU bonus is another 2,500.
So in roughly 3 months or so I will have over 75,000 UR points!!!
