Hey y'all!
Exciting news hit the internet today! As the majority of you guys know, Capital One is "transforming" the Venture card into a real travel card adding an awesome signup bonus and transfer partners! Oh, and how can I forget about the 10x on top of hotels.com that the Venture card offers? I have to say, I am personally happy with this because, even though I do not own this card nor will be applying for it anytime soon, I do think that every competition is welcome as we, the consumers, are the one who will benefit from it!
After reading the TPG post and some information here, it got me thinking: "How is Chase going to react to all that"? I say this because the CSP for many of us was THE travel card but now with Amex releasing the new Amex Gold (revamped) and Capital One entering the game strong, I wonder how the CSP compares to these new cards! I am writting this post because I would love to have a dicussion where we can compare these cards and talk about pros and cons!
All theses cards are pretty good in my humble perspective but I have to say that if I were to rank them I'd say that the Amex Gold would be in the first position but I would like to hear from you guys!
How do you think that these new cards compare and also, how do you guys think that Chase will react to it IF they actually react to these news, haha! Is the CSP competitive still?! Thank ya'll for participating!
Hey!
I feel like keeping the Venture is the way to go specially if you book hotels frequently but I mean, even if you don't, 10x is a lot!
I have the CSP and the Amex Gold so I am still rethinking my strategy because the CSP used to be my main card and now I feel like the Amex Gold is going to take that spot (I was just approved for the Amex Gold, haven't received the card in the mail yet!)
I agree with you about downgrading the Citi Premier as many of the multipliers are the same, so if you can save the AF, why not? I would just say, keep it in mind that Citi is potentially coming back with a new card to replace the Citi Prestige so, with that being said, I would hold off until January (when I think that they new Citi card is going to be released) before downgrading. Not that you would upgrade from the Premier to the new card because it doesn't make any sense to lose on the SUB but I don't know, I would wait, haha!
Again, I agree with you. I think that these benifits added to the Venture card will bring a lot of people and also, we can't say that Capital One doesn't have a true travel card now!

Honestly, I've had the Venture since June and I have only use hotels.com ONCE! lol. I'm just accustomed of booking through either Hilton or Marriott. Come to think about it, I probably should use hotels.com more since I would never have elite status at any hotel brand. I too just got the Amex Gold and I LOVE it as well! It has completely replaced my Savor as my Dining/Groceries card which is now used as a backup.
Ehh, I think ill pass on the prestige. I would have a hard time swallowing that 495$ AF even if the credits offset it. Not to mention, TY points arent as valuable to me as MR points are. What do you mean Citi is replacing the prestige? do you mean the premier?
I'm definitelly looking forward to others using the Venture more as well! The 0$ minimum redemption requirement has always been great features for me. Like others though, I just couldnt justify paying 95$ for a 2% cash back card limited to travel when I have a two no af 2% cards.
Hey,
Yeah, I mean, as of now you cannot signup for the Citi Prestige. Citi, I believe, is rebranding that card and they are going to release it in January I believe but you can find information about the new multipliers online. I would definitely book all my hotels through hotels.com if I had the Venture card. Like I mentioned before, I am still waiting to receive my Amex gold, I applied last Friday (November 9th) and I have been waiting impatiently, haha! Hopefully I will get it soon, its been like 5 days now, haha!
I am still thinking about my new strategy like I said. I'm looking for a place for the CSP in my wallet but I think that the Amex Gold already has a place in my heart, haha! It's like Andy when he got Buzz Lightyear and forgot about Woody, HAHA!

Haha. it took my card exactly 6 business days to get here! I was approved on Oct 31st and I received it on Nov 9th.
Imo the Amex Gold completely replaced the CSP. It would only make sense to use CSP for travel purchases that arent flights. It also depends on how you value UR vs MR points as well also. I will NEVER be below 5/24 so i'll likely never have UR points. lol
You should definitely look into the Venture though. The 75k SUB is great even if you dont utilize the partners.
I am lying to my mind saying that Saturday and Sunday won't count towards the total days (that it takes for the card to be delivered), haha! So that way, I've bene waiting for only 3 days, haha!
I do value UR points pretty well but I mean, like you said, I can't see a reason to use the CSP now as I am already using the Amex Gold via Apple Pay. I don't know how Chase is going to react.
Right now I won't be applying for the Venture card because I am still working on the minimum spend for the Amex Gold and right now it would be kinda hard for me to hit 5k in 3 months but maybe soon! Hopefully the 75k offer will last, hahaha! (Even though I don't think it will, lol)

Definitely get that! You should definitely look into getting a card that can handle non category spend where your gold would only get 1x MR. If you have a business the Amex BBP would be a great fit with 2x MR on purchases up to 50k a year. The 75K offer will probably last until the end of the year is my guess then it will go back to 50k.
