I've seen some people getting 100,000 points after first purchase for non-preferred Sapphire. I have not seen better offers than the 40,000/50,000 for CSP. It also seemed like people get less targeted offers from Chase after you have one of their cards.
I am waiting until January 2013 for my CSP and I am hoping they put the signup bonus back up to 50,000 by then. If not then 40,000 is nothing to sneeze at either. Hopefully it doesn't go any lower though. I really don't want to app until January just so I get the full year of my United card before moving on to the CSP.
Chase checking customer for 2+ years, Freedom customer for 1 year.
This is the card I've spent the most on for the last year.
Have yet to receive a single offer regarding the CSP. I'm sure it's because they know I want it.
But with each month, my craving for it has been fading. Maybe when I'm 100% indifferent, they'll send me one.
I started getting targeted offers from AmEx shortly after opening my CSP. I suspect it works the other way as well - use one of CSP's competitor cards and they'll try to lure you away. I've read your ZIP code plays a role too in the offers you get.
