Update: I sent Chase a SM yesterday and at first got the message about applying for several other of their cards with the chip available. Today I got a follow up SM saying:

Dear SO AND SO,

I am writing this as a follow up to the previous response
sent to you about requesting a Chip technology card for
your Chase Sapphire Preferred credit card account ending
in XXXX.

I am pleased to confirm that I have mailed Chip with
Signature credit cards for all the users listed on your
account via rush delivery. You will receive these new
credit cards within the next one to two business days from
today at the address listed on your account by UPS.

I hope I was able to resolve your concern. If you have any
further questions, please reply using the Secure Message
Center.

Glad to see this. I have always wanted to use my CSP overseas and never made much since to not be chipped given it has no FTF. I have been forced to use my Bank Americard Travel card because it has a chip. I just sent a message to Chase asking to chip my CSP. Hope I get a rep that is helpful.

Requested via SM. They said "its not available on this card, but you can apply for one of our other cards that has one." Ummm, no thanks. I'll just call in.

I did the request for the chip version via SM on 11/2 and got a response similar to one above my post about an hour later. Received an email today 11/3 from UPS about the delivery of my new card tomorrow on 11/4. That's not 2-3 business days at all, it's like none or one depending on how you count. 

What's not to like about Chase customer service?

Yeah they said no problem through the secure message and and said I should have it in 1-2 days.

Sent a message and within 2 hours they said they'll be sending a new one out:

Thank you for contacting Chase about the CHIP card 
request.

Your request for a replacement card with embedded CHIP has
been processed, and should arrive at the mailing address 
for your account in three to five business days.

If you have any further questions, please reply using the 
Secure Message Center.

Just called chase and they are sending me my new card with emu overnight

My new card arrived today on time. Called to activate and just used it (oh no please don't scratch it).

I am going to deal with the disposal of my old card later this week. I checked earlier today and I am out of acetylene so I have to get the tank refilled. Figure a fitting death would be to melt it down with my torch. I'll shoot a video so that those rumors of indestructible metal card can be put to rest.
