Deciding whether or not to open a Chase checking/savings and park a few hundred dollars or so there.
Does it help during the app for a CSR?

Not really. Not enough money for them to take much notice and they'll base any decision on a CSR application on your credit file and not a newly opened account of a couple hundred dollars.
Have you checked to see if you have any preapprovals from Chase?
The only thing opening checking/savings account with Chase helps with is that it allows you to sit down with a personal banker. I opened both checking and savings account but that was so I could get the new account bonuses ($200 checking; $150 savings) and to qualify for the bonuses you need to direct deposit at least $500 per month for three months and for savings you need to keep a balance of at least $10,000 for 90 days.

I don't have any other relationships with Chase because they don't exist in my region. It would be a three hour trek to the nearest one. I don't have any preapprovals from Chase due to my age
Can't I sit down with a personal banker if I go to a branch and app for the CSR?
Does app-ing in branch vs. online make a difference for the CSR? 5/24 aside.

Are you saying you're younger than 21? How long have you had your Amex BCE?
If your scores are accurate and you already have a credit line of over $10K I don't see why you would be approved for one of the Sapphire products (assuming you're under 5/24).
Opened AmEx BCE in Feb 2017, not a single bad/late/delinquent on my file.
AAoA is 1 year 6 months roughly though.... last opened was the BoA in april 2017. Haven't had any hard hits / new CC since.
I just realized I responded to relatively similar questions in this thread: CSR odds please?
What has changed in the last month?
My score went up by a bit, and I am debating whether or not to open a Chase checking to boost my odds.
