CSR - In-branch approval?

I know this should probably be in applications, but since I'm not technically applying I'll start it here.

I really want the CSR. I am WAY over 5/24 is the only issue. All of my scores are right around 700. I see folks talking about going in-branch to see if I can get a pre-approval. Could someone who went through this process elaborate? Did you have to open a Checking Account or Savings Account to trigger the pre-approval process? Or do you simply ask the teller if they have any pre-approved offers for you?

Thanks a lot.

Re: CSR - In-branch approval?

If you have ANY Chase accounts of ANY type (credit, banking, investment) they have your profile in the system.  Walk in, sit down with personal banker, ask "Do I have any offers?" and if they say yes, ask to see them and pick CSR out of the bunch if it's there.

I haven't had offers in-branch ever, but I go in every week to ask and get free bad coffee.  My Chase banker is also a neighbor so he's kinda used to it by now and will actually wink at me when I walk in and pull me ahead of the line because he knows it only takes 30 seconds to check.

Do not call into a branch -- their offers screen asks them if you're present or on the phone.

What's your current highest limit bank card that isn't a store card or CU?  Chase really likes to see a person have other high limit cards before granting one from their arsenal.

I don't have enough data points but so far I've seen people get the $10K CSR having a $6K prime bank card, but haven't seen anyone get the CSR with anything smaller as their highest.

Chase generally ignores store cards and CU limits, supposedly.

My Merrill+ was recently increased to 25K and my BoA Cash Rewards to 15K. They’re both VS.

Re: CSR - In-branch approval?

You should be good to go.  What offers are showing up with the green checkmark in your Chase app/website login?  If CSP shows up there, go into the branch today and ask about CSR ASAP.  And post an update either way.

No pre-quals at all. That’s the issue. Doubt I’ll see one in-branch. But I will keep the forum updated, as always!

Tiny thread hijack - I'd really like to get a freedom before 2020. Would it be advantageous to open an account with Chase? (My Chase cards are currently AUs, so not my own.) the

FWIW I'd say no.  There are anecdotal data points that anyone signed up with Chase's free FAKO "Credit Journey" monitoring may see prequalified offers there.  I know I saw offers there but I also have a Chase login (separate from Credit Journey until they merged it a few months ago).  So you may want to sign up for it and check there monthly or so.

Chase's banking offerings aren't so great because of fees and stuff.

I assume Chase AU's don't get their own login, correct?

Ha! I'm already signed up for their credit journey thingie. Nothing yet. *Laughs*  His Chase cards weren't even set up for online until I did it for him because I wanted to pay the bill and I don't send checks. And correct, there's no separate login. Eh, it was a thought! Thanks!
