Since I already have the freedom, I was thinking I could PC the CSP to the CS and the CSR to the Freedom U then transfer most of the credit to the JPMR. Would that be a better move than simply closing them?
The idea is just to get some additional UR earning. So with a Freedom (or additional Freedom) you would get some more 5x categories, and the FU would allow you to earn 1.5UR outside of the categories covered by the premium cards
I'm still struggling with the idea proposed by the OP that Chase will PC from the JPM Select to the JPM Reserve, which bypasses the requirement of being a JPM Private Client with several million dollars in assets under management. I seriously doubt this could happen.

This can't be a serious thread from a brand new poster. ![]()

OP says that this is a new user account as he/she has forgotten an older one.
While I don't know if it is really possible to do the PC, it's not CERTAINLY impossible. We know in the past there were various loopholes to getting the Palladium that people took advantage of. PCing a card in the "right" family that is no longer available could be such a loophole. Or not.
Could be.
I missed that the OP re-registered, sorry OP.
Got it on the downgrades - thx. I actually am not sure that they will allow me to do a PC on the CSR right away. I may have to wait. I am not too worried about it as the AF will be paid for the year anyways.
As far as the PC goes it is real. This whole thing is very new and I doubt anyone is really talking about it yet. Soon enough I bet you see more threads pop open about it. Maybe the earlier poster will call about his and at least inquire?
My speculation is they want all of the JP card holders to get to this new card at some point. The JPMS holders were probably green lit because in their meetings about it I am guessing it was concensous that JPMS holders likley fit the requirement as well? This statement is just a broad stroke. It gets them off the $95 AF and to the $450 AF. They are part of the same family so let them do it.
As far as getting the JPMR on its own merit it sounds like its pretty much an impossibility unless you have the money as discussed with them. The chase rep even said it would take a sit down at the actual JPM branch to go over investments and so on.
Any average joe citizen with a good score and income could get the JPMS, why would they let those people get the JMP (a card that requires private banking). Makes no sense. The card is like a CSP, it's nothing special.
DRz. It was like that for a very short time. They had the app up online then took it down the day after I got approved. You then had to go in and app just like the Palladium
As far as benefits go they mirriored the Palladium. Far different than the CSP. My favorite thing about it was the hidden TL as I had to carry some unexpected debt and put it on that card and it remained hidden from the credit score folk. That said, beyind the hidden TL it had little use to me. The 35k bonus after 100k spent in a year, I never hit and the was ONE of the main selling points for the JPMS and Palladium.
With that said the "new" paladiums benefits mirror far closer to the CSR which is just more goodness from the CSP. The AF is the same, but I now get the hidden TL among some other things. My CSP is my main runner. Love that card. I eat out a BUNCH so the 3% over 2%(CSP) will be nice. I have two trips planned one out of country so the travel credit will be nice along with the 3% travel points. They got rid of the 35k points/100k spent bonus on the new one and I think just spread that ver more useable categories such as food and so forth.
As stated, if the JPMR was upgradable but was still $595 and had benefits geared more like the previous version I would pass. But given my opportunity I think it makes sense for me to get that and eventually close/pc the csr when the time comes.
I am sorry if I am coming across in an odd way.
Also, you never know just like with the "loopholes" to get the cards before, this option may just go away at some point. They may end up only allowing JPMS customers to PC to the CSR at some point when they feel the membership is good enough with JPMR. All I know is the JPMS is a discontinued card. Mine expired first time about a year (two?) ago when they first canceled the JPMS. The axed that one long ago. To my surprise they issued me a new one. I figured they would force me to either do a PC to a CSP which I did not want as I already had one or some other card. I knew the palladium was out of the question and I did not want it for the reasons stated above. My new card they sent expires in 2018. There is a chance I would have been faced with the CSR descision or close account at that time. OR who knows, maybe the PC to the JPMR will be indefinate to JPMS holders. I have a feeling not though.
