I was approved for a Cabela's Visa in April of this year for a $1000 CL with a 650 Equifax score. I have regularly charged to the account, and paid it off in full each month. On July 16th they did an account review and on July 22nd I made a payment in full that was not due until July 30th. On August 10th, they closed my account. I just called in to find out why and was told that my Equifax score must have dropped significantly since when I applied. According to ScoreWatch on July 13th my Equifax score was 651. The only change on my report from when I applied is that a medical collection has now been removed.
What is going on, and what can I do to fix this??
Diz, good to hear from you. I was doing my regular report monitoring and noticed it was closed. I thought it was a mistake, and logged into my Cabela's Visa account only to find that my credit limit was being listed as $0. I called the number on the back of the card and listened to the statement info which said that as of August 10th (my statement date) the credit limit was $0. The representative I then talked to told me a letter about the closure had been mailed, although I haven't received it yet.
Can you do me a favor and log into your account to see what your credit limit is saying? Are you carrying a balance right now?
Just logged in and everything is still ok. Limit the same measly $500 its always been. I just used my card 2 days ago to buy some fishing equipment and to pay my phone bill. It's got me worried though.
It can never hurt to try a recon. If you want the card fight to get it back.
Good luck, let me know how it goes.
Thanks for checking, I really hope they leave you alone! Looks like your scores are better than mine though, so hopefully you won't even be considered.
Have you been approved for anything since Cabela's? I can't seem to break out of 650. I was considering applying for some stuff recently to age along with my other newish stuff. Now I'm thinking I really should since my total CL is now $500 - at least my BOA 99/500 card is graduating in September! Although now I'm worrying about what a let down that will be if something goes wrong there, lol.
while I should have stopped the apping after Cabelas, I apped:
JCPenny: $200 (5 GeMoney accounts)
Best Buy RZ Mastercard: $450 (annual fee cut in half and limit raised to $450 after threatening to close account)
Athorized user on Juniper MC: $1600 (wifes)
Macys: $600
I need to stop way too many account and they are all such crappy limits.
In these credit times its almost a daily battle to keep cards from going under. Just remember its not a reflection of you personaly just business and move on. It works for me
