Calling for increase vs hitting button

Does it make a difference? I have read here that it does sometimes. If so when you call what questions will they ask, and what are the best reasons to give for why you need the increase? Also things to definitely not say.

Also I read if they have a chat feature that is just as good to use vs  hitting the button.

It's hard to answer your questions because they are not specific... Can you be a bit more specific? Are you planning to request increase from what credit card company?

Every credit card company does credit increase differently!!

I haven't ever got any increases so all of them!

Specifically Wal Mart, BJ's (both synchrony) Citibank (have 2), Chase, Sun Trust, Capital One (have 2). They all have buttons on the website you can just click from what I have seen.

What are your FICO 8 scores?

Have you requested a CLI or waiting for them to give you one?

Re: Calling for increase vs hitting button

Any recent lates in the last 24 months on credit cards?

IME, hitting the luv button was the most successful. With Synchrony bank, calling has been the best approach depending on the card.

No lates ever. My profiles especially on the BJ's synchrony are pretty solid too. I have charged 8.5k on that one over the last 2 months and paid it all off. Lots of uses in the previous months before that too (I don't know how far they go back, but about a year ago I had 15k charged and paid off in a few months time too). I have a bunch of small 500-900 limits that I charge up to limit every month, pay them off every time so the profiles on those are good too. But I will definitely call on the BJ's if that works better. The small ones I will probably just hit the button, I'm not going to get much of an increase anyway on those I would guess.

Well... you never know. I'm trying to figure out what's holding your scores down? Do you have an installment loan reporting actively? From your description, your scores should all be in the 700s.

Have you been denied an increase or haven't tried for one?

I just had a collection pop up (cost me 25 points) and yes I have a personal loan with 9k left on it. The collection is from Sprint they were trying to charge me for something I didn't use and I refused to pay. I wish I just would have. Too late now. They are horrible.

Re: Calling for increase vs hitting button

Try your SPs first. That would be Synchrony, Capital One and Citi.

With Chase it's normally easier to get another card than a CLI. Especially with your scores being under 700. I'd find another card they have that's useful to you. You can move limits around where you need them.
