I've been on the road to fixing my credit and I've had some utilization snags, but other than that things have gone great. I've had a Kay jewlers card with a 4,000 starting limit. The most I've charged is 40bucks Instead of paying it off, I did monthly payments. I'm 99.9% certain I set up automatic monthly payments for my last payment just so I didn't have to worry about it. I logged in the other night for whatever reason and saw I still had a balance of $22.50. I almost died! It was 2 months late. I paid it immedietely and checked the next morning to make sure it was paid. It was paid alright, but they also closed my account! I called them up and they said if a payment is more than 60 days late, the account is automatically closed! No exception. I explained to the rep that I was almost postivie it was set up for automatic payment. She of course said nothing can be done. So what do you guys think? Do I have to just chalk this up to an idiot error? Or do you think if I push a little harder they can open it up again? I'm still not 100% certain if I set it up or not so I can't blame them 100%. I'm really shocked they never called me even at 30 days late!
So far it hasn't hit my credit yet, but it will soon enough. It has only been a few days. I looked over my email and received nothing except advertisments. I even went through phone records to see if I missed something. Oddly enough, the day the payment cleared and when the account was closed I had received a phone call from Sterline Jewlers which is the parent company I belieive. I've been looking for CEO email or executive support, but no luck just yet.
