I find it very weired that I cannot register my BoA AMEX card on the AMEX website and I called BoA and they said that I canot d it! Is no it AMEX card whatever the issuer is? Please, help
No, you can not.
It is confusing because American Express is both a bank that issues credit cards and the owner of a brand network that handles transactions.
Visa, MC, AMEX are network brands that deal with the merchants.
The issuing banks deal with you in extending credit, granting benefits, and collecting your money.
AMEX brand on your card means that the merchants send the charges to AMEX network. The network forwards the charge to the issuing bank (BofA). The issuing bank (BofA) determines your credit , benefits and collects your money.
oshoair,
Could you share with us which BoA AMEX card did you get and how easy/hard was it to get (scores, limit, etc.)?
I'm thinking about getting an AMEX-branded card from BoA (I like their rewards/cashback) but also not sure whether they give you the same Amex perks (extended warranty, etc.)
Thanks!
I was recently approved for the Bank of America® Accelerated Rewards® American Express® Card when I was denied by the regualr AMEX site I decided to apply through Bank of America. Was approved with a starting 2K. Amex ran my experian but the Bank of America Amex ran my Equifax which I was very happy about.
Thanks a lot, Twix!
