I was denied for the Amazon Rewards VISA card. I called CHASE's recon department and spoke with a very nice rep. The trade lines on my credit reports are all old and in dispute. I just had my son and after a horrible pregnancy (I had hyperemesis, sick entire 9 months and due to healing during postpartum) a lot of my financial life fell to the way side - including a credit card that is reported over the limit because it was due while I was in the hospital. Anyway I've paid the card down under the limit and I'm back on track. Anyway, the rep explained that the over the limit balance on my card was the primary reason for denial and she could not extend a reconsideration at this time. Which is fair. Three questions:
1. Can you call more than once for reconsideration?
2. Say I call after my new balance is reported, as long as it's less than 30 days, will the rep pull the credit report at the time of me applying or my updated report?
3. Could I call my credit card issuer and ask them to report my new balance now?
I've already taken a lost with the inquiry and I really want this card. I've bought ALL of my son's baby needs via Amazon, and might as well take advantage of the benefits attached to being a card holder. If all else fails, I'll just focus on picking up with my disputes and get my utilization down - which I'm going to do anyway.
Thanks!
In my experience with Chase recon they don't seem to pull the most recent reports. And it takes a few weeks for the bureaus to update info provided from the creditor. I do know you can ask Chase to pull a different report, but it will be another hp. In my case my other report was accurate, but the Chase rep told me she would still go with the initial decision because it was a drastic difference in reports.
from what i have read about chase absolutely recon again.....discover on the other hand i reconned three times, thevlast two becausevthey seemed friendly enough!
