Cannot get american express card expedited because they claim I was already approved? They said you need to do it while pending or do the app over the phone in order to get the card expedited

Normally, there is a cut off point to request overnight shipping. If the card has already been printed and/or shipped then it would be too late.

I was told the same thing when I asked.
The app needs to be over the phone, and you need to request it when you're app'ing.
At least for the first card that seems to be the case.

This is true.  Expedited shipping can be requested with a phone add but Amex reps arent even allowed to order a replacement card on a new account for the first 10 days.  I have in the past had an authorized user card sent via overnight and it arrived next day while it took almost 10 for my own to come via snail mail.

I’ve never tried to get a new card expedited bc they offer to give you the virtual card when approved.

They did overnight my Platinum that I lost (and found the next day).

@Anonymous What's interesting is that I've had several Amex cards over the years and I've only been offered a virtual number once.  I wonder what triggers the offering of said number...or in my case, what causes them to not offer it.

@Loquat, I honestly don’t know the trigger....I’ve had 5 Amex since getting back in last year, and it was offered on all 5. I thought it was standard. 🤷🏽‍♀️

The two times I’ve gotten virtual card numbers upon approval was when I app’d through incognito.

I got it on ED and Platinum when I app’d to get the highest SUB’s but when I did it logged in during my recent Delta Platinum app I wasn’t offered it.

Temporary card numbers seem to be YMMV with AMEX according to DoC.

FWIW I've applied both incognito and while logged in, and they've never offered me the instant virtual card number.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
