My father has the same problem as most do. He has stellar credit, income in the 6 digits, and couldn't get his $5K limit raised (tried 3-5 times in 10 years he claims). He loves no hassle CB cards but he wants to go to the Fidelity 2% card now.
I tend to agree if a card is not serving its purpose move on. I can't belittle a card that served a purpose in my credit journey mainly giving me a chance when no one else would. I was fortunate that when I got the card I got one with no annual fee. Granted it was only $300 but I credit stepped to $500. Then at a year to $2000. When they came out with the Quicksilver I had to do the Facebook thing. When EO called I couldn't have talked to a more charming person. It was a painless 5 minute call. I tried the online CLI twice shots down but then a month later auto increase to $3500. I may not get a top tier card from them and take 3 hard pulls. The only thing I can do is thank them for taking a chance on me. As should the people who burned them and they gave them another chance. Try that with Chase or American Express.
CapOne EO called me back and upped my CL from $5050 to $6500. Not enough but its a start. I may still close this account because it shouldn't take so much work to get a CLI from a CCC. The guy gave me his personal line and said call back in 6 months and he will see what he can do at that time.

Cap one is good for people like me who are rebuilding, not for people who can already obtain prime cards.
Not quite true. Capital One has some decent products (like Quicksilver) that are fine for people with great credit. Easy redemptions, very simple rewards structure, no FTF make them my primary card when abroad. Also useful for buying stuff not covered in categories by other credit cards (although I used Fidelity Amex if the place takes Amex).

this
I like my capone because of the 1.5% cashback on everything. They started me with a reasonable limit for my spending. They also give auto increases after a few months, so I will luv button for an increase after I get the auto increase sometime early '14.
@Braydon wrote:I started out with the basic steps card 5 years ago with a $750.00 CL and it stayed that way untill 7 months ago. It took an Email to the EO before they moved me over to the QuickSilver and gave me small CLI increase of $250.00. For the heck of it Tonight I gave it a shot on the web site and got the standard 7-10 day message nothing new.. I guess it made me wonder why do we as comsumers have to strive so hard to business with these folks? Sending emails then waiting for call backs just to obtain what other cards do without me even asking. I could understand Cap 1's position if my scores were low or my UTL was high or I had commited any of the credit card no no's that made them feel I was a risk. I'm going to stop chasing my tail with these folks. I'm on vacation right now and if its anything like my last one 4 moths ago they just missed out on the lions share on over 12G that I paid out to Discover, Citi, and Amx on the last get away trip.Just my thoughts!
I wonder the same thing. I am grateful to them for giving me a start rebuilding, but when it was obvious my $500 and $750 CLs were't going anywhere, even with higher CLs from major CCs, I gave them the boot and have not looked back. It was such a tremedous waste of energy going on the site and clicking the stupid "offer" button (or whatever it said. we were calling it the monkey button or something for a while.)
Call after call, supervisor after supervisor, yielded conflicting, erroneous information from them and frustration for me. I have no desire for another Cap One with their 3 HP requirement. NO other major CC that I know of requires 3 HPs.
Everyone has their own needs and wants, so I guess it's a good fit for some. I'll always be grateful to them for helping me rebuild, but that's it. ![]()

No one has to. Some do and find it worthwhile. Some do not. I was in the latter camp. YMMV.
