Currently have 3 cards with Cap 1, the other day I double app'd for Venture / Venture One and received instant approvals. I was able to add both cards to my online banking and then today I logged in and saw both of the new cards had restrictions.
I called capital one and they are requesting front & back of drivers license, social security card and utility bill. They sent me a secure message to upload the docs, which I'm willing to provide but what gives? 3 current cards with them, checking, savings & money market and supplied all info they needed over the phone. I know they are just looking out for me but what a hassle.
Anyone else have a recent similar experience?
I've read of this a few times now... Capital One new account ID verification, either pending approval or immediately after the fact.
I could be mistaken, but I think the cases I've read of so far usually have folks apping for more than one card at the same time (which makes sense, since the HPs are usually merged). There might be an 'outlier' or two out there who got the verification message for a single account, but it seems the chance goes up when more than one app is done.
Anybody else notice this?

I would prefer this as it's better than going through the hassle that someone stole your personal information and used your identity to obtain goods and services.

I suppose I got lucky then cz this did not happen to me when i double dipped for V 10K and QS Visa 3K in August with only 1 pull for each Bureau.
Then last month pulled the trigger on V1 and instant approval for 5K with no issue.
I went through an over-the-phone identity verification for my single app Venture card earlier this year. I think I received the call (from the CapOne fraud department) a few days after being instantly approved for $20K. The phone call was brief and painless. After that, it was smooth sailing with my Venture card.
