Cap 1

I got approved for $300 Cap ONE. They promise to send me the card next 10 days. Is there a way to ask for a CLI? My scores across the 3 cra's ranges between 610 to 640.

And also, what the best cards for the people who tries to get starter cards. My friend who I helped with his credit problems have very limited history. I started him with ORCHARD SECURE CARD, is there any other card company who is friendly to his kind.

Hooters denied him.
KOHLS denied him.
Home depot denied him.
Macys denied him.

Now, he feels frustrated.

Re: Cap 1

Try Target, JCPenney & Capital One (they have a couple of "poor/limited credit" cards).

Congrats on the Cap 1! They have a program called Credit Steps where if you use the card within 90 days and behave yourself with it, you will be given CLI's. Here's a thread that talks about it:

It sounds like your friend is trying to go a bit too fast. Those four cards that you listed are not starter cards. What are his FICO's now, how long is his credit history, and is the Orchard his only credit tradeline? If he's had it for 6 months with clean history and nice low util, I would tell him to apply for the Bank of America secured card. Another 6 months with that one, plus more time with the Orchard, and he should be up in the upper 600's and ready to go.

If his scores are already pretty good, but just with short history, he might try applying for the Bank of America Platinum Visa. If he can't qualify, they might offer him the partially secured card (what we call the 99/500) or fully secured card. BofA pulls EX, so that report and score need to look good.

Re: Cap 1

Also if he recently started with an Orchard, it may not be reporting yet. If the CCs are pulling credit, they might not see any CC history. It usually takes up to 2 months for it to report.
